06-28-1957 MinutesVIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Board of SuperVisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on June 28, 1957, at 11:00 a.m. Present: ~ir. Hague, it is resolved that this Board Lgrees to supplement the State allocation for the construction of Rural Roads .n the County of Chesterfield for the year 1957-'58 for any additional costs of improving the requested Rural Roads above the amount allocated by the Highway Department for such improvement, not to exceed $4835.00, which amount is to be paid from the 34 Hoad Fund of the County. Whereas, on August 31, 1956, this Board transferred $50,OOO~ on September 28,195(i $2?,000.00; November 30, 1956, $25,000.00, December 31, 1956, $3?,000.00, and January 31, 1957, $61,000.O0, to the Construction Fund of the Water Department from the General Fund of the County, and Whereas, these amounts were not allocated to specific items within the Constructi~ Fund, Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, on motion of ~[r. Operating Fund: 10-324 7421.07 10d-324 10d-123 429.12 This day the Executive Secretary presented a petition si~ned by some 40 citizens living ~r using the White house Road, on the west side of Rt. 1, said petition requesting the widening and hard-surfacing of said Whitehouse Road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Goyne, seconde~ by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved that this petition be sent to the Highway Department of ~s consideration. On motion of Mr.Britton,seconded by.Mr. Hague, it is resolved that the County Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to purchase a Cleveland ditcher for the sum of $11,181.19. It is here noted that Mr. Goyne did not vote. On motion of Mr. Hagerman, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that the Treasurer of the County of Chesterfield be requested to transfer $12,O00. from the Old Bond Reserve Fund surplus to the Construction ~nd of the Water Department. Be it Resolved by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Chesterfield, Virginia, in regular meeting assembled,that the Chairman of said Board be and he hereby is authorized to enter into an agreement with the Atlantic Coast Line RR. Company and to sign same on behalf of said County, whereby the said Railroad Company gives and grants unto said County the right or license to lay and maintain for the purpose of conducting water, a line of 8-inch transite pipe across the right of way and underneath the tracks of the Railroad Company, near Richmond, Virginia, at a point on the RFailroad Company's James River Branch 1618.66 feet northwardly, measured along the center line of the Railroad Company's northbound main track, from mile post 1; as particularly described insaid agreement, which agreement is dated May 17, 1957, aa copy of which agreement is filed with this Boara of Supervisors. This day the County Engineer presented a contract between the Atlantic Ccast Line and the County of Chesterfield, said contract setting out the agreements under whick the CountyWater .Department lay a water line underneath the Atlantic Coast Line track on Jahnke Road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion ~ Mr. Britton, secondee. by ~ir. Hague, it is resolved that this contract be and it hereby is approved, subjec to the approval of the Commonwealth's Attorney. And be it further resolved thatthe Chairman and Clerk of this Board, be and they hereby are authorized to sign said contract. On motion of ~.Goyne, seconded by ~r. Hague, it is resolved that the Building Inspecto~ be and-he hereby is authorized to issue a building permit to Mr.H.H. Tinnell to ¢onstr~ a house on Lot 41, Bellwood Heights, fronting on Reynolds Avenue, provided that Mr. Tinnell informs the Building Inspector in writing that he will improve Reynolds Avenue to meet'the State's specifications. This day FLr. Jack Burge came before the Board stating the fact that he had rec~tly obtained a building permit for the construction of a duplex dwelling in DuPont Square, which building was to be built by contract and upon applying for a meter connection to the w~ter line he was told that the connection charge would Be $110.00 per connection, and requested that the Board make some concession for the price of these two meters since no notice was given prior to the passage of the policy of this Board, Upon consideration whereof, Mr. Goyne made the following motion: Be it Re~lved, that this Board authorize the two connections in question robe install~ for Mr. Jack Burge at the actual cost of making said connections. This motion died for the want oS a second. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by ~r.G~yne, it is resolved that a variance be granted to Mt.J.P. Marchetti for the construction of a house on Lot 2, Terrace K, Oxford Addition, at a distance not less than 14-1/2 feet from his side line. it is here noted that the adjoining property owners agree in writing to this reque~. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.Goyne, it is resolved that this Board adjourn~until 10:00 a.m. July 9, 1957.
