Hsgue, Jr. Mr. Marshall F.Driskill This day the Executive Secretary reported that the State Highway Department had accepted ce~'tain roads into the State Secondary System of roads: Windsorview Subdivision - Windsorview Drive - From a point on Route 683, 0'0'5 mile east of Route"S&2 and runhing o.17 miles north to Sequoyah Road. Length O.17 miles. Windsorview Subdivision - Monitor Road - From a point on Windsorview Drive, 0.07 ~le north,of Route 683 and running 0.11 mile east todead end. Brookhaven Subdivision - Brookhaven Road - From a point on Route 360, 0.08 mile east of Route 1673 and ru~ning 0.22 mile southeast and thence 0.14 mile southwest to Route 1673. Lenfjth 0.36 mile. Brookhaven Subdivision'- Kirby Road - From a point on Brookhaven Road O.12 mile SOutheast of Route 360~ O.O& ~ile southwest, thence 0.09 mile southeast to i Brookhaven Road. Length O.13 mile. Westover Farms Subdivision - Westower Drive - From the intersection of Routes 1933 to 1928 to 0.15 mile south to Irby Drive. Length O.15 mile. Wildwood Subdivision - Shady Lan9 - From Route 616, 0.08 mile east of Route ~15: and running 0.30 mile north toturn-around. Length 0.30 mile. Woodstock Subdivision - )Sth Street - From end of maintenance o~ Rt. 1254 and running O.17 mile north to' 'Hill R°~d. Length O.17 mile. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Boar~ made report in writing upon his examination of Knollwood Drive, Wyecove Lane, Huntersdell Lane, and Robindale Road in Bon Air Terrace Subdivision in Midlothian Magisterial District, which report shows that in the opinion of ~he County Road Engineer it is expedient that said roads be established as public roads. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Driskill, it is resolved th~at Knollwood Drive, Wyecove Lane, Huntersdell Lane and Robindale Road in Bon~ir Terrace Subdivision in Midlothian District, be, and the same are hereby established as public roads. These roads serve ll houses. And be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of ChesterI'lela uoun~y guarantees a right of way of not less than 50 feet for these roads. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board made report in writintguupon his examination of Barlen Drive in the Barleth Heights Subdivision, in Manchester Magisterial Di~rict, which report shows that in the opinion of the ~ounty Road Engineer it is expedient that said ~ad be established as a public road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~ir. Britton, it is resolved that Barlen Drive in Barleth Heights Subdivisi~$, be, and the same is hereby esta- blished as a public road. And be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested to take into the' Secondary Road System ofChesterfield County~ Barlen Drive, from a point on Rt.644, .17 of a mil~ west of Rt.2101, .15 ~f a mi] southwest to a dead end. Thisroad serves 5 houses. And be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County guarantees a right of way of mot less than 50 feet for' this road. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board made report in writing upon his examinati on of Old Quarry Road and Shawnee Road in the subdivision of Cherokee Hills, Manchester ~agimt~rial District, which shows that in the opinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said roads be established as public roads. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of I~r. Britton, it is resolved that 0~ Quarry Road and Shawnee Road in the suodivision of Cherokee Hills, District, be, and the same is hereby established as public roads. And be it further resolved that the VirginiaDepartment of Highways be and it 'hereby is requested totake into the Secondary Road System of Chesterfield County Old Quarry Road, from the intersection of Rt.86~ and Rt.866, .08 of a mile horthwardly to Shawnee Road; Shmwnee Road, from a point on Old Quarry Road, .08 of a mile on Rt.866, .11 of a mile eastwardly to a dead end. These roads serve ~ houses. And be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, gua'rantees a right of way of not less than 50 feet for these roads. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Rlr.Britton, it is resolved that Whitehead Avenue in Laurel Meadows Subdivision,Manchester District, be, and the same is here~y established as a public road. And.~be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary Road System of Chesterfield County, Whitehead Avenue, from a point on Rt.645, .07 of a mile nor~ of Rt. 2222, .17 of a mile east to Rt. 1699. This road serves as a connecting And b e it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County guarantees a right of way of not less than 50 feet for this road. On motion of ~r. Britton, seconded by ~4r. Driskill, it is resolved that on the advice of ~r. C.F.aellam, Resident Engineer, and the Executive Secretary of this Board, that the Abandonment of .~5 of a mile on the western end of Rt.644 . 2 of a mil= on Rt.751, leading southwardly from Rt.60, .35 of a mile on the e3astern end of Rt.802 and Rt.16&5, from Rt. 10 to Rt.16&l, all as listed in a resolution of this Board dated March 12, 1957, would work aa extreme hardship in some cases; therefore, this Board doth rescind its motion of March 12, 1957, pertaining to ~he abandonment of said roads in Chesterfield County. On motion of ~zr. Britton, seconded by Z~r.Driskill, it is resolved that this Boa] approves the proposed name of Manchester Drive for a lane 20a~eet wide, leading eastwardly from Whitehead Road and being south of mhd parallel to the Reams Road. It is here no~ed that the Executive Secretary is requested to notify the citizens of this area that this is not a publicly maintained road and that no building permit will be issued in tbs future unless additional right of way is provided. This day Mr. L.R.Goyne came before the Board seeking a variance from the subdivision requirements on a p~rcel of land fronting Perdue Avenue. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~4r. Hague, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the Building Inspector be and he hereby is authorized to issue a building permit, provided Mr. L.R.Goyne improve Perdue Avenue and Cedar Lane specifications acceptable to the State Highway Department. On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the Treasurer of the County be and he hereby is requested to transfer $22,000.00 from the General Fund of the County to the 35 Road Fund of the County, the same being the amount set up in the 1955-'56 budget 'and which amount was not transferred during said fiscal year. This day Mr.H.T.Goyne, reported that he had received several requSsts to improve a short section of Grove Avenue, south of Boyd Street, and it was generally agreed that the Executive Secretary would talk with the subdivider, arthur Boyd, and seek his compliance with the subdivision policy. On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board grant Mr. Ira O. Morrison of 4403 Bangle Drive, a variance from the bu£1dimg restrictions to allow the construction of an addition to his house, the same being 6-1/2 feet from his side property line. It is here noted that his adjoining neighbors state in writing that they have ne objection to this construction. On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Rir. Driskill, it is resolved that this Bo~ grant Mr. B.S. Barnette, residing at 263 Old Westham Road a variance from its building requirements to allow the construction of an addition to his present residence to be constructed within 13 feet of his side property line. skill, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that this Beard On motion~of N~r. This daythe Executive Secretary .read a letter from Mr.J.T.Rose, req~uesting thel Board's approval of his attending the National Association of Assessing Officers annual meeting to be held in Dallas, Texas. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Hagerman, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this request be granted and the County participate to the extent of $255.00 in the expenses of this trip. On motion of Er. Hague, seconded by Er. Hagerman, it is resolved that the Build~n Inspector be and he hereby is authorized to issue a building permit to Adelle~ Jefferson on a parcel of land fronting on a &O-foot right of way on Tra~t #l,i of the property f~rmerly owned by Mr.C.A.Fausnet in Dale District. On motion of ~r.Hsgue, seconded by Mr. Dris~ill, it is resolved thau this Board approve the biennial budget of the Department of Public Welfare for the year 1958-'60. On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is requested to write to Mr.~Ehas. Smith of the Virginia Supplmental Retirement System, requesting an audit of Chesterfield County for the purpose of initiating a retirement program. On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that the County Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to install two (2) fill pipes in theEnon area and chargesame to t'he General Fund of the County. This day the Water Committee recommended that the water ban be taken off and on motion of Mr. Goyne, immediately. Upon considdration whereof, seconded by Mr.Dri~kill ~ ~t is resolved that the ban against unauthorized use of water during certain hours of the day be taken off and that the citizen of the County be requested to conserve the water as much as possible. Driskill, secor~ed by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the firm of R.Stuart Royer be requested to proceed with final plans for a house numbering according to a tentative grid recently submitted. On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by ~r.Hagerman, it is resolved that this Board go into Executive Session.
