This day Mr. Robert Painter~ County Engineer, advised the Board that the salari~
for two inspectors on the installation of water lires did not .compensate for
extensive overtime work. Upon consideration wheruof, and on motion of Mr.
Brit6on,seconded by Mr.Driskill~ it is resolved that on the recommendation of
the County Engineer that the salaries of the two inspectors be increased to
$565.00 per mohth.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by M~. Driskitl, it is resolved that this
Board approve the Change Order No. 1 in the A-4 Water Improvement Contract.
On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mt.Hague, it is resolved that the change
in the size of the water line from 8" to 10" located on Rt. 10, east of Rt. #1,
be submitted to the Consulting Engineer for his approval.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded bY Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that water
contracts for the Wellington Subdivision, Westover Farms, Subdivision, the
Subdivision of J.L. Longest in Chester, and the Worthington Farms Subdivision~
be, and they are aoproved, and the Chairman and Clerk of this Board are
authorized to sign said contracts.

of $5,000.00 be transferred from the Funded Cash Reserve to the Water
Department Operating Fund $1758.20, and to the County Construction Fund ~ the

This day l"~r. W.C.Todd, representing the Firs~ Federal and Loan Company, came
before the Board requesting the installation of a 2" water line in Byrd Road.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by Mr.Britton,
it is resplv~ed that this Boar~ deny the request of ~r. Todd and on the 6"
recommendation from the County Engineer authorizes the installation of a
line on this street, the cost of which is to be borne by the applicant.

on certain lots in Rayon Park to which there is no State approved road
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Goyne, s~conded by Mr~ Hague~
it is resolved that this Board request the Highway Department to investigate
the cost of improvinK a portion of Madison Avenue, Ampthill Road and Walker
Street. And it i~ ~um~her resolved that the Executive Secretary notify Mr.
Holly as soon a.~ this cost is ascertained.
On motion of Mr' Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this
Board request the Highway Department to add Rt.643 and Rt.650, between Rt. 10
andRt.6~?, to the Federal Aid system of raads in conjunction with the Federal
Aid Project on Rt.6~3.
This day 1;as set as the time for a public hearing on the abandoning of m~
certain rca ds currently in the Highway system and there appeared no one to
object to the abandonment of maintenance of said roads.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the
County approve the Highways'request to use a portion of Dellwood Avenue, not
at present in the State Secondary System of roads to facilitate the digging
of a drainage ditch to serve the general area.

cover the cost of completing several streets in the Hollandale Subdivision,
which amount it is reported by the Highway Department to be sufficient to co~,~,r

This day Mr. Joe Bellamy came before the Board citing the game claims for the
month of October. Whereupon, Mr. Driskill, made a motion, seconded by ~r.
Britton: "Be it Resolved, that the game claims as presented b~ approved for
payment". Whereupon, Mr. Goyne made a substitute motion, "Be it resolved
that the game claims as presented be approved for payment with the exception
of the claim of Mr. Frank Michalek for six pigs, be reduced to $8.00 per pig"~

Ordinance Committee be and it hereby is requested to study the operations.
of garbage trucks in the County of Chesterfield and to draft an ordinance,
if same is feasible, to control the operaticn of garbage trucks to a greater
degree.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved that the
Executive Secretary be and he hereby is requestdd to repair and make certain
improvements on the Forest View Fire truck not to exceed $174oOO, after first~
getting bids ~rom the Crenshaw Body Company and others doing this type of wo~.
This day the Executive Secretary read a report from Mr.~.T.Rose, County Assessor
which report covers the operation of the Assessing office for the first three
quarter~ of this year.
On mOtion of ~r.Britton, seconded by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved that this Boar
grant to b~s. Mabel M.Ellis, a variance to convert a cinder block barn into
living quarters on her property on the Elkhardt Road.
On motion of ~v~.Britton, seconded by Mr.Goyne, it is resolved that this Board
grant a variance in its building restrictions to Mr. Lewis T. Irving to allow
the construction of a utility house not less than 3 fe~ from his rear proper~y
line on Stratford Road, provided the names of the adjacent property owners
giving their consent to this variance be notarized, and provided further tha~
the property of~. Irving be inspected to ascertain the actual conditions o~
this request.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Boar~
grant to Mr.E.W.~llis, residing at 801 E. 55th Street, a variance to allow tke
construction of a garage 5 feet from his rear property line.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.Hagerman, it is resolved that this Boaz
grant to Mr. D.H. Tyree, residing at 69 Bramwell Road, a varia~e to allow the
construction of a garage not less than 10 feet from his side line adjacent to
Whitehead Avenue.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded byMr. Driskill, it is resolved that the
Buildings and Grounds Committee meet with the Executive Secretary to decide
the procedure f~r the purchase of furniture for the new office building.
On motion of ~r. HaKue, seconded by ~r. Driskill, it is resolved that on the
recommendation of the County Engineer that the County purchase Golden-Anderson
water valves at an additional expense of $479.90 for four valves.
