This day hr. Harold T.Goyne gave ~he invocation.
Mr. James Ta~.e came before theBoard complaining of bad water conditions at his
home at the intersection of Percival and School Streets, citing the fact that
this condition had existed for a number of years and that apparently the only s
solution was to replace the small 2" pipe. It was generally agreed that the
County Engineer would investigate this condition.
This day hr.R.Pinkney Sowers, ~epresenting hr. Jacobs and mr. Gould, owners of
the Woodmont, Subdivision, came before the Board to recommend the passage of
a standard water contract which included an attached rider to allowthe owners
to benefit from any future policy the Board may adopt on extensions of water
mains. It was generally agreed that this miter would be discussed by the
Utilities Committee on February 15, 1958.
This day Mr. Tom Jordan and a delegation fr~ the Granite Acres Subdivision,
cams before the Board presenting a petition signed by 58 of the 61 families
residing in this subdivision,which petition r~quested the Board of Supervisors
to construct a sewerage'treatment system to alleviate the present sewerage
conditions in this area. Upon-consideration whereof, and On motion of Mr.
Britton, seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that the Coum~y Engineer '
be requested to investigate this situation, to consult with R.Stuart Royer,
and Associates, and to ascertain if possible the cost. of a system of drains
necessary to serve this area,
This day a letter f rc~ Mr.C.Merle Luck was presented, which letter opposed the
reduction of the speed limit on Rt. 15?, Also, was read a letter from the' Old
Gun Road - Robious Civic Association oPposing the red~tion of the speed limit
on'Rt. 127.
A letter from theBon Air Community Association was read which letter proposed
the reduction in speed limit on Rt. 157.
On motion of~r. Driskill,seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the
request from the Old Gun Road -Robious Civic Association to widem the narrow
curves on Old Gun Read be sent to the Highway Department for inves$igation.
This day there was presented a petition signed by numerous citizens in the
Crestwood Farms area requesting the State Highway to pay9 certain roads in
the Crestwood Farm Subdivision. It is agreed that this request be sent
to the Highway Department for consideration.
A request from.certain citizens residing at the intersection of Granite Road
and McRae Road~ for the improvement of certain drainage conditions in the
area, was turned over to the Highway Department for investigation.
Mr. Lancaster, Resident Engineer, suggested that the Board review its road
problems and suggests another project to be financed as a Federal Aid
Project, whichwould be ~rogrammed about 1961.

it is resolved .that this Board grant the requested Use Permit to operate a
Nursing Home on the aforedescribe~ parcel of land. provided said Use Permit
would expire December 31, 1958~ and that there willbe a maximum limit of four
patients at this Nurs~ Home.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by ~.~. Goyne, it is resolved that the County
Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to connect the property of Mr. Jett
to the sewer system in Kaemore Ridge, provided the owner bears the expense of
making the connection, Plus a connection charge Of $500.00.

On motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by Mr.Britton, the following resolution was
unanimously adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield
County unanimously endorses a State-Wide Sa~es Tax and
requests that the present Legislature now~in Session enact
a State-Wide Sales TaX before adjournment.
And be it further resolved, that a copy of this resolution be
sent to the Chesterfield Legislators.
It is here noted that a resolution from the Board of Supervisors of Franklin
County relative to a Sales Tax was read for the Board's hearing.
On motion of Mr. Hague. seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the audit of
the County for 1956-'57 prepared by A.M.Toler and Company, ~ertified Public
Accountants~ be, and it hereby is received'along with a letter from Mr. J.
Gordon Bennett, Auditor of Public Accounts, approving the audit.
This day theExecutive Secretary read a letter from Mr. Horace Edwards,City
Manager, City of Richmond, requeeting certain information on Chesterfield's
willingness to pay a pro-rata share of the cost of building a detention home
for Juveniles,and it was agreed that Mr. Ha~me and the Executive Secretary
will review this matter with Miss Corr and other officials of the County.
