Hagerman On mQtion of Mr. Driskill,~seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to employ the firm of J.K. Timmons to survey the grounds around the Court House building and draw necessary plans for establishing a parking lot and hard-surfacing saidparking l®t and other areas. On motion of Mt.Britt, n, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resQlved that the Executiw Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to secure bids from County nurseries on the planting of shrubbery around the new office building, which shbubbery be planted according to a plan drawn by the Watkins Nursery and generally approved by the Board of Supervisors. On motion of Mr. Britt. n, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is reselvedthat tb~ f®rm of a sewerage contract between Albert Askins,~Allan G. Fleischer, et Al, and the County of Chesterfield setting forth the conditions of cmnnecting certain areas to the Kenm. re Ridge Sewer Treatment Plant be and it hereby is appr®ved, and the Chairman and Clerk .f t his Board are authorized to sign said contract. On motion of Mr. Hagerman, seconded by Mr. Britt. n, it is resolved that this Board request the Treasurer of the County t. transfer $2728.00 frmm the unappropriated surplus ef the General Fund to the HOspital Fund ~-214, the same being done at the request ef the ~elfare Department. This day the Executive Secretary read ale tter from Mrs. Rose Royer, requesting an appropriation from t~e Je£Eress Memorial Fund for the construction oz a swimming peel at the Retarded Children's 6amp at Camp Baker, and presented als® a statement fr~m Mr. Robert Jeffress saying that the use of the Memorial Dand in his epini~n would be c.mpatible with the desires ef his Mol~he~, the donor. This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board made report in writing upon his examination of Clarkson Road and Sunbury Road in the subdivision of }4cGuire Manor, Manchester Magisterial District, Which report shows that in the opinion of the County'Road Engineer it is expedient~ that said roads ~e established as public n~ads. - Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr .Britto n, it is resolved that Clarkson Road and Sunbury Road in the subdivision of McGuire Manor, Manchester District, be, and the same are hereby established as public roads. And be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of H~hways be and it hereby is requested to take into the Secondary System o£ Highways, Clarkson from a point on the intersection of Rt.2242 and Rt.2243, .lC of a mile eastwardl .12 to Sunbury Road;~ Sunbury Road, from a point on Clarkson and Sunbury Roads, of a mile southeastwardly to Sheffield Road or the intersection of Rt.2?$& and Rt.22~5. Dedication of said right of way being recorded in Plat Book No.8, Pages 239- 2~0, 270-271, Chesterfield County Court House, Virginia. ~- This day the Executive Secretary reported that there had been received a N~ice from'the State Corporation Commission that a hearing would be held on May 21, 1~58, on a common, carrier franchise for the Richmond-Petersburg Freight Lines. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr.Richard K. Schmitt, whic! letter pertained to certain zoning problems at the intersection of Westham and Scottview Roads, which l~ter was ordered to be received and filed. On motion of Mt. Hague, seconded by Mr. Hagerman, it is resolved that the requee~ of MissAnn Wills, District Home Demonstration Agent, for the aDpointment of Miss Virgihia Wilson as Assistant Home Demonstration Agent in Chesterfield County be and it hereby is approved. This day the Emecutive Secretary read a report from the League of Virginia Counties citing the f~ct that certain counties were requesting the State to pay to the Counties the ABC revnues in q~rterly: payments, which report is received a nd filed. This day a notification was read concerning the crossing at Swift Creek by an 18" Natural Gas pipe line, which notice was received and filed. Th~isday there was read a request from the,Commonwealth Natural Gas Company, signed by Mr.L.L.Armstrong, Vice-President, for the construction of a gas pipe line across certain highways in the County of CheSterfield. This day there was read from Rabbi Solomon'Jac°bs°n, thankinD the Board of Supervisors for the appropriation of $1200.00 to the S0uthside Area Mental Health Association. This day a letter ~as read from Mr.Donald M.Swanson, President, Ohester Fire Department~ setting up specifications for a proposed new truck for Chester Fire Department, and it was generally azreed~that this m~tter be re2erred to the Fire Committee whichw~ll meet on May 27, 1958. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the Building Inspector be and he h~eby is author~ ed to issue a building permit to Mr. B.R. Bolen to build a house in the Pocoshock Hills Subdivision, in :hester District, provided that a 50-foot right of way be dedie~ted by deed and constructed to meet the minimum specifications of the State Highway Departme On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that a supplemental azreement with the Atlantic Coast Line RR., Company, calling for an easement ~o the spur t rack going into the McGuire Hospital property on which the~e is a proposed water line, be, and it hereby is approved and the easement and Clerk of this Board are authorized to si~n said contract. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Commonwe.~lth's Attorney of this County is authoriz ed to institute the necessary Proceedings on behalf of the County to acquire said interest in said land by the exercise of the right of eminent domain and to represent the Board if the landowners contest the manner of said taking. FURTHER RESOLVED, the Clerk of this Board is authoriz ed to deposit with the Clerk-of the Circuit Court of this County the respective sums as Set forth above, being the Board's estimate of the interest taken and damages done, when requested to do so by the Commonwealth's Attorney. This day the Board held a brief discussion on certain c hanzes in the proposed Ordinances of the COunty, and set the date of June 3 1958, forfurther study of these ordinances.
