This day a delegation of citizens from tile 0verstreet Subdivision came before
the Board again seeking the improvement of a road leading southwestwardly f~om
the Harrow~,te Road. Hr. C. F. [ellam, Resident Engineer, stated that the ~
Highway 0epartment would not improve a subdivision road under a Rural road
status. Upor, ~o~sideration whereof and on motion of Hr. C-oyne, seconded by
Mr. Britton, it is resolved that this Board request the State Highway Depar%-
ment to improve said road at a cost not to ex6eed $2530.00, and said cost to
be paid from the 3¢ Road Fund of the County. This motion passed by a 3-0
majority.
On moti:~n of Mr. l~ritton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the
~oard r'eque~t the Virginia Department of Highways to i.mprove Arcadia Street
from Rt. 60 to Rt. 644, and Roselawn Avenue, from Wythe Avenue to a poiDt
feet north of Arcadia Street, at a cost not to exceed $3010.00, said cost t~
~,e borne fro,, the 3¢ Road Fund of the County, and upon the promise that this
acbion is an e~tenuating circumstance and would not set a precedent for the
future action of 'this ~oard.
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that the
resolution of June 7th, referring to the improvement of said streets in
Oloverdale ~ubdivision, ~nchester District, be, and the same is hereby
rescinded, since it is the rulin~ of the Highway Department that subdivisio~
roads can not be improved under Rural road status.
On mation of Dr. Gill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolvmd that the
resolution of June ~th, referrin~ to the improvement of the road in the
O~erstreet Subdivision be and the same is hereby rescinded, since the }{i~hway
Dopartmsnet has ruled that subdivision roads cannot be improved under the
Rural road status.
On motion of Mr. Bri~ton, seconded by Mr. ~unter, the following resolution is
adopted:

required plat for said closing with this Board and in the Clerk's Office;

road and alley has been Miven by post~H~r a notice thereof at the ~pont
door of the COtlpt House and by postin~ notices thereof on a t least three
[)laces a]on~ and on each Feud and al].ey Dpor~osed %o be abandoned as shown
by the return of Sheriff 0. t{. Gates, filed herewith and l)y the publ~ca-
titan of such a notice at least twice in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, a
newspaper havint~ goneral circulation in the County as shown by a certifi-
cate 0f the bugi;less maIlager of said newsoaper filed herewith and no
obsection appearing thereto, it is unanimously.

No. 1, 592.]6 feet, more or les~, to the intersection with the rear lines of
Lot 1, [~lock D, and lot 11, Block C, (}rindall Creek Park, as extended toward
each other, and (2), the 20 foot acces~ lane running northwardly from Watkins
Avenue for a distance of 822.~9 feet, more or less, both as.shown on the pla%
of (~rindall Creek Park, .lade by John H. Foster, dated Rlarch ~1, 1948, recorded
in the Clerk's Office of Chesterfield County in Plat Book 8, pa.,~es 12~ and 126,
ue, and the same are hereby closed and abandoned as public roads subject to
~n easement in favor of the County of Chesterfield for water mains as ,]ow laid
C. rindall Parkway west of the 20 foot access lane and in the 20 foot access
north of (;rindall Parkway, provided, howevol~, that Chase Construction Gompany,
inc., may at its own ex,~ense and Wllh the approval of this Board relocate said
miens.
FURTtIER RESOLVED, that the Commonwealth's Attorney do prepare and sign
in behalf of the Board a petition to the Judge of the Gircui"t Gourt of
Chesterfield County requesting his ratification and aDoroval of a conveyance
by this bo,ird on behalf of the County of [he area on said plat shown as Orindall
Park and lhe area embraced within said road and lane subject to the easement
aforesaid, ill furtherance of this 1½oard's action ~ken on Oune 8, 195~.
