This day the R~v. Forest Wagoner of Chester, gave the invocation.
On motion of Mr, Hague, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that tho
Treasurer of the County be and he hereby is requested to-transfer from the
unexpended surplus of the County the sum of $1500.00 to Xte~ 7-401 for the
installation of fire hydrants.
This day the County Engineer came before the Board requesting approval of a
change-order in the contract with Lyttle and Barnes to install a water line
on Buford Road to allow the installation of an additional 60 feet to tie-in
with the 6" line on Jahnke Road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion
of ~r. Britton, seconded by Mr.~riskill, it is resolved that the change-order
to allow th,~ construction of an additional 60 feet of 10· line by the firm

In Bermuda Magisterial District, a triangular parcel of land
fronting on the James River approximately 6200 feet and extending
eastwardly ~820 feet, dividing the land of ~,T. Moore and extending
southwardly ~300 feet along the lane of Sam Morgan, said property
being approximately ~00 feet north of Rt. ~19.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Hr. Hagerm~n,
it is resolved that this matter be deferred until Tuesday, January 15, 1957o
On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill. i~ is resolved that the sontn~
request of the Frederick Realty Corporation be and it hereby is postponed until
February 12, 1957.
This d~y a delegation appeared to seek the changing of the name of Voltaire Street
to Riverside 9rive. Upon cons£deratio~ whereof and on mot/on of ~h'. Britton,
seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolvedthat since this road ha~ for'a number of
years been designated as Riverside 9rive, it now be officially designated
Drive.
And be it further resolved tb~t a new street sign be purchased and installed on
said street.
On motion of Hr, Brittonj seconded'by Mr. Driskillg it is resolvedthat the
Chairman appoint a Committee to meet with the.~ompensation Board concerning the
salaries of the Treasurer and his deputies. The Chairman appoints Mr. Brttton,
and Mr. Hagerman foment with the Compensatio~ Hoard to discuss the salaries of the
Treasurer and his deputies.

Executive Secretary be and he hereby is requested to investigate the insurance

On motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. Bri~ton. it is resolved that the
Police Committee be and it hereby is requested to investigate the accident in
~hi~h the Police Officer Edwards was killed and the County*s liability in this
matter,

insurance for all County-owned cars for the ~ear1957 be and it hereby is awarded

This day Mr.J,T.Roseg came before the Board requesting the hiring of'an assistant
in his office to nmke the real estate transfers and to aid in keeping current
the new tax maps which would soon be finished. On motion of Mr. Briskill~
seconded by Mr, Britton, it is resolved that an assistant assessor be hired at
a salary range of from $3600~00 to $~000.00.

assessments of real estate in this County by tho County Assessor shallbe ~ade
by ~ocomber 31st of ~eeh year, howover~ if such assessments are not complete by
thistimo, if good cause ~e shown an additional period of sixty days shallbe
allowed to complete such assessments.
Whereas, it being represented to tho Board by Mr. J.T.Rose, County Assewsor,
that due to the graf amount of woric involved in the annual real estate assessment
of tho County by the County Assessor with the assistance of the State Department
of Taxation for tho year 1956, it is necessary that an extension be allowed to
complete tho assessment,
