03-19-1957 MinutesVIROINXA: At an adjourn'ed meeting of tho Board of Supervisors of 0hesterfield Count held at the Courthouse' on' March' 19, 1957, a 7:30 p.m. Present: Mr. Irwin O.Horner, Chairman Mr. H. T. Goyne M~. R.J.Britton Mr. Stanley R.H~gue, Jr. Mr. HoK.H~german Absent: Mt. Marshall 9riskill The application of Mr. H.M .Shoosmith, Jr,, lobe granted a Use Permit.for ~h~ purpose of digging, removing and hauling dirt and gravel f~om the par=el of land described in the application, the same having been continued from March 1957, to this da'te'fo'~ final decision and on motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Hague, Be it Resolved{ ~t a Use P~rmit under the p~visions of Section A-5 of ~he Zonin~ 0~di'nanoe, be ~rsnt~d ~o ~he ~ppltcan~, and ~he ~pplican% ~10~ to di~, haul and remove dirt and g~vel from the hereinafikr desoribtd p~opek~Y' for a period of 18 ~nths from the date hereof subject to ~he conditions i~osed herein ~ In Manchester Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 660 feet on Hey Road and ex,ending eas'twardly approximately 400 feet, said parcel be'ing ?00 feet so~h of the Old Broad Rock Road, on which a Use Permit to remove gravel is requested by Mr. H.M .Shoosmith. Conditions of Permit All conditions set out, et'~., in letter of H.M.Shoosmith, Jr,, dated March 19, 1957,' That the land shall bo geeded for a distance of 50 feet to Hey Road and then be graded southaastwardly to the Creek. No excavation shall take place, or work dOne o0 the property ' except between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and suns%t and only five days of each week, exclusive of Sunday, That a bond, without surety, in the amount of $2000;00 or other suitable guarantee bm turnished prior to continuing any work under the permit guaranteeing 'the faithful performance of all of its applicable requirements of the permit, 5, That all work shall be done in such a manner as to eliminate as far as pta ~icabla noises, vibrations or du{t whichare injurious or annoying to persons living in the vicinity. 6. That the 50 feet adjoining Hey Road shallbe graded, top soil added and reseeded in a reasonable time'from the date hereof. That upon failur, of the applicant to comply with these conditions. this permit shall immediately stand revoked. This day Mr, Harkness from the C&P Tel. Company came before the Board to explain the telephone s~tchboard designed for the new office building at the Courthoiuse Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. H~gua, seconded by Mr. Hager~an it is resolved that the Exkcutive Secretary be and he hereby is au t/~orized sign an a~raement with the ~&p Telephone Company to place an order for such dial equipment as may be necessary to s~rve the Courthouse and tho buildings in the ~ou~t House Squaue, This day Mr. Louis Longest and Dr. Robt. Phillips. came before the Board seeking a variance in the requirements of the County Engineer in tho-install&tio~ of a ~" water line in the new Chester Subdivision, lying immediate~y southeast of Petersburg Street, citing the fact that the subdivision did not require a 6~ line except for fire purposes which they did not want, statin~ furthe~ that a 4" line would be adequate to serve said area. k~leroupon, Mr. Goyne made the following motion: That this Board approve the application to installa 4' water line on Brook l~ne in the Chester Subdivision,'which motion died for the want of a second. On motion of Mr. Ooyne, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that this Board appropriate from the County's General Fund $73,j83.30. to the School BoardSs Operating Fund for i~s expenditures through March 1~, On motion of Mr. Ooyne~ seconded by ~ro Kagerman, it is resolved that be appointed to view the fire tr~cks to bo sold at Fort Lee on April 2, 1957'! and to be authorized to purchase said trucks if deemed advisable, The Chairman appoints Mr, Goyne, Mr. Britton and the Executive Secretary. This day Mr. Ooyne cited to the Board the fact that the Bensley Fire Department had made a strong request for a new fire truck, Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by )ir. Hagerma; it is resolved that this Boar.! approve the contracts for the installation of water lines in tho following subdivisions: Cherokee Hills, Barleth Heights, and the Secercy Subdivision. On motion of Mr, Goyne~ seconded by Mr.Britton, it is r~solved that the Buildi~gs and Grounds Commi/te be requested to investigate the space requirements for the Commissioner of Revenue. The Chairman appoints Hr. HoT.Goyne, as the new Chairman of the Buildin§s and Grounds Cm~ittee~ the other members being Hr. Stanley Hague and Mr.H.K° Hagerman. On motion of ~h'. Brttton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that a'variance be granted to Hr, ~m, ~. Savage to allow the cons~ruction of a building not less than 15 feet from his north property line o~ Lot 8~ K®uka Road, Huguenot Farms Subdivision, On motion, the meeting is adjourned until 7:30 p.m. April 2, 19~7,
