06-18-1951 MinutesVIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Boar~ ~f Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on ~ June 18, 19)1, at 8:00 p.m. Present: J. G. Hening, Chariman H. T. GoMne J. C. Ilcliesson Irvin G. Homer James W. Gordon, Jr. Robert O. Gill This day a delegation of citizens of ~,mGuire fillage came before the Board request~ ng some relief from an inadequate drainage ditch. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of J. C. i,~cKesson, seconded by James W. Gordon, Jr., it is resolved that the matter be investigated by Mr. J. C. ,.,cKesson, i.[r. C. F. Kellam, and the Executive Secretary, and report to this Board at the next meeting. On motion of J. C. McKesson, seconded by H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that the installation of traffic si~ns on Rt. 737 from the City Limits to Hopkins l{oad, be referred to the Virginia Department of Hi?~hways. On motion of Irvin G. Holnaer, seconded by J. C. ~[cKesson, it is resolved that the Execu'~;ive S~.~cretary be and he hereby is directed to ~vestigate the per unit cost of the installation of street and road signs for the Co~..mty roads. This day came a delegation from the area around Route 15~, just north of Chester, requestini~ by petition, that this Board request the Virginia Department of Highway,' to abandon the old Route 1~ as the new Route l~'J+ is completed. Upon ctn- sideration whereof and on motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by Robert O. Gill, this Board does re~!uest the Virginia Department of Highways to cooperate as much as possible with the citizens of this area and try in every way feasible to f~ive them some relief from the present conditions which are irreparably detracting from the value of their land. Dr. Robert O. Gill made the following motion: That this Board deduct .~2806.63 from the bill charged a ~,a~%st the Ettrick Sanitary District, since this is the amount the County lent the District for the constructi(n of the Municipal Building in Ettrick. Mr. H. T. Goyne introduced a substitute motion, seconded by l~ir. Irvin G. Homer, and upon consideration whereof and on motion, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary investigate the bill, circmnstances, dates, etc., and report at the next regular meeting of this Board. On motion of J. C. McKesson, seconded by Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to purchase seven (?) fire hydrants at $~0.00 each from the finn of i~Iorris Ro~mn of Richmond, Virginia. On motion o£ J. C. ,4cKesson, sec~ded by Irvin G. Horner, the Executive Secretary h beret is authorized to h%stall a water system in Section C-?, of the ~ be and e ' Y ~ ~ ' · k subdivision of Woodstock as per schedule dr~wn and agreed upon by the ~ooastoc Ho e and Land Company, Inc. On motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by J. C. McKesson, it is resolved that the Treasurer of Chesterfield County, J. Wm. Dance, be and he hereby is directed to I transfer from the unexpended surplus of the Genera]. Fund of the County the sum of !i75,000.00 and apply ssm]e to the Construction Fund of the Utility Department. On motion, the meeting was adjourned tu~til July 10, 1951, at 10:OO a.m.
