This day Idr. Charles C. Porter came before the Board requesting the rezoning of the below described parcel of land in Midlothimu Magisterial District. Upon consideration whereof and on motica of J. C. McKesson, seconded by Irwin G. Homer, it is resolved that the parcel of land requested be and it hereby is rezoned from Agriculture to General Business: In Midlothian Ma~.isterial District, a parcel of land fronting t000 feet on the south side of Rt. 60 a~d extending back 400 feet, more or less, said parcel of land being at the southeast corner of the intersection of Rts. 653 and 60, to be rezoned from Agriculture to General Business, on the application of Charles C. Porter. This day Mrs. Dorothy Chiarky came before the Board requesting the rezoning of the below described property in Bermuda District; ~r. Wesley Cunningham came ~pposing sa~ rezoning presenting a petition signed by twelve land owners: In Bermuda Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 300 feet on the east side of Mills Road, extending back 300 feet and adjacent to the north side of Cobbs Road, to be rezoned from Agriculture to General Business on t he application of Mrs. Doroth Chiarky. Upon consideraion whereof and on motion of H.T. Goyne, seconded 0y Irvin G. Hornet, it is resolved that this request be denied. This day representatives of the First Union Baptist Church a~peared before the Board reeuesting a Use Parmit for a ~raveyard on the following described parcel of land: In-Manchester Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 90 feet on Clark's and extending westwardly 200 feet, more or less, said parcel being .1 of a mile of Rt. 60, on which a Use Permit is requested for the establishment of a graveyard by the First Union Baptist Church. Of those citizens present and interested a vote taken which showed that 5 of the 7 people were opposing such a Use Permit. Upon consideration ~hereof and on motion of J. C. McKesson, seconded by Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that t~is application for a Use Per. nit Se denied. This day Elijah Cogbill ~came before the Board requesting that a Use Permit be grante~ for a club house on the below described property: In Dale Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 360 feet on the south side of a public road and extending back 606 feet, better '~c~own as Lots 6 and 7 in the subdivision of "Piney Branch", on which a Use Permit for a club house will b? con~ sidered upon the application of Elijah Cogbill. Upon consideration wnereo~, and on motion of J. G. Hening, seconded b~ H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that a Use Permit be granted on said parcel of land. This day Mr. A. J. Homer came before the Board requesting a new siren and tarpauli~ for the new truck purchased the Fire Warden. Upon consideration whereof an¢ on motion of J. G. Hening, seconded by Irvin G. Hornet, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is directed to purchase a siren and tarpaulin for this truck. This day at a joint meeting of the School Board and the Board of Supervisors of matter of locating a steel building 24' x 60' recently acquired by the School Board was discussed. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that this building be placed parallel to the Agricultural Building on the Fair Grounds and in line with the Beef Cattle Building. On motion of J. G. Hening, seconded by H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board recommend and request that the Virginia Depart~ent o£ Hi, ways place Rt. 743 in lin~ for hard-surfacing as soon as possible. On motion of J. G. Hening, seconded by H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Depart~nent of Hi!~hways to straighten and ~rad. e Rt. 613 in Dale District from the west side of the Atlantic Coast Line to Rt. 37 This day ~@. E. S. H. Greene, Supt. of Schools, came before t. he Boa~,~d requesting th, Board to approve the Liter,~ry Loan for Midlot~hian ~Schoo~l i~n the amount of ~24,500.0( to cover the cost of remodelin~ and constr~ucting the scnoo-. Upon con whereof and on motion of H. T. Go]me, seconded by J. G. Hening, it is resolved that this request be ~ranted. This day the Executive Secret~y presented a petition signed by 17 pro?erty owners on ~gth Street requesting that 49th Street be investigated by the Highway to see the necessity of installing speed limit si.~ns on said road. Upon consideration %~nereof and on motion of H. T. Go]me, seconded by Irvin G. Horner, it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Department of Highways to investi- gate 49th Street, Greyst ~ne Avenue, the Subdivision of Rolando and Dundas Road in 8ensley Villa~e and report the feasibility of installing "Slow" si~ns on these said roads. This day the Chesterfield County School Board presented a resolution to the Board Supervisors requesting this Board~s approval of a temporary loan in the amount of $4~,823.68. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of J. C. McKesson, seconded by Irvin, G. Ho~er, it is resolved that this Board of Supervisors approve the School Board s requeot to be permitted to borrow the said s~un of ~43,8~3.68 for a term not to exceed six m~nbhs. On motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that Mr. C. Kellam, Resident Engineer, Virginia Department of Highways, and the County Road Engineer investigate the roads in the "~iohawk" subdivision. This day l,~r. Dowling, Supt. of Terminals, ACL RR. Company, appeared before the Boar~ requesting the ap~roval by this Board of the offer made by the ACL concerning the road from Bell's Road to the house of Sarah Brown. Upon consideration where¢ and on motion of Irvin G. Homer, seconded by J. G. Hening, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is directed to contact Mr. ~ay Bowles to ascertain whether or not a 30-foot right of way can be obtained from the Bell's westwardly to the overhead bridge across the Atlantic Coast Line Tracks. On motion of J. G. Hening, secm~ded by Robert O. Gill, it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Electric & Power Company to ~ove the poles in the first block of Boyd Street in the subdivision of "Hening Heishts" at a cost not to exceed ~.00. On motion of Robert O. Gill, seconded by Irvin G. Horner, it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Depart~.~ent of Highways to study the intersection of Rts. 626 and 627 to ascertain whether or not a "Stop" sign is necessary. On m0ticn of Irvin G. Homer, secoaded by H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Departmeat of Highways to ~ade and ditch .3' of a mile of Epps Road, s~id cost to be borne by the 3¢ Road Fund of Clover Hill District. And be it further resolved th~ the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is directed to send this resolution to the High'~ay Department only upon receipt of a check covering the cost of the above stated work. On motion of Irvin G. Homer, seconded by Robert O. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board authorize the Treasurer of the Co~ty of Chesterfield to invest ~600~000 of Water Revenue B~onds recently sold in the best Government bonds available for a period o£ six months. Clinton Sheppard and Mr. Jmnes H. ~ewell at a compensation not to exceed 15.00 per day to act on a Committee composed of themselves, I~Ir. Gordon and the Execu- tive Secretary presented a certain recon~endation on the install~tion of a garbage collection system in the County. There being many apparent problems accompanying su~ a proposal, it is ordered that this matter be continued until a ]~ater meeting. On motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by Robert O. Gill, it is resolved that the bill presented by ~Ir. H. B. Gilliam for delinquent taxes be and it hereby is approved and ordered to be paid. On motion of H. T. Goyne, seconded by Irvin G. (2) It will not be of mere priw~te convenience. (3) No yard, garden or orchard will be taken. (4) No land o~aer requires compensation.
