at the Courthouse on August 28, 1951,
at 8:00 p.m.

In the absence of the Chariman, l'~lr. J. G. Henin~, l'~r. James ~. Gordon, Jr., was
elected Chairman of this meeting.
This day ]~r. John Pearsall presented to the Board certain aspects of the suit
involved with Colonial Heights and counselled the Board to wait further action
until Jud%e Jefferson clarified his opinion.
This day a delegation from the Ettrick Fire Department came before the Board re- |
questing the complete management ~f the Ettrick Municipal Buildfng~ agreeing to kee
siad building clean a~d to take care of minor repairs in consideration for the rents
received from the hall. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Dr. I
Robert ~. Gill, seconded by Mr. Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that the Ettrick
Fire Department be .~iven the right to collect all rents ?rom said building and
apply said rents to the treasury of the Ettrick Fire Department in consideration fo~
the cleaning, maintenance, ~u~d minor repairs of the ~,~unicipal Building. ~
And be it further resolved that the Executive Secretary be authorized to purchase ~
the necessary ~aterials for the paintin~ and repairing of screens in the ~unicipal
Building, said work to be cbne by the Ettrick Fire De~.mrt~ent.
On motion of Irvin G. Ho~er, seconded by J. C. ~4cKesson, it is resolved t?~at that
resolution of ~his Board dated August i4, 1951, authorizing the Treasurer of
Chesterfield County to invest $600,O00 of water revenue bond funds in Government
bonds for a period of six months, be, and it hereby is rescinded.
And be it further resolved that the Treasurer af the County of Chesterfield be and
he hereby is authorized and directed to purchase out of the avails of the water
revenue bond issue in the County, Federal Intermediate Credit Bonds and/or other
U.S. Government Bonds in an amount not to exceed $800,000.00.
This day ~'lr. Sutherlsnd of the Budget Division of the State, came before the Board
requesting this Board's approval of a plan to install a storm sewer line from the
Virginia State C,~>llege to the Appomattox River. The Chairman appointed Dr. Robert
O. Gill and the Executive Secretary to meet with ]~r. Sutherland at a later date and
work out a solution to the mutual benefit and sat~.sfacticn of all concerned.
On motion of J. C. l~'icKesson, seconded by [[obert O. Gill, it is resolved that the
Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized todraw check for land acquisition
in the amount ap roved by the Con~nittee a~,pointed to assess the property in the
Fallin~ Creek area, said property to be used for the water expansion program.
This day the Executive Secretary reported that there was only a ~O-foot ri~ht of way
on the Bell's Road to the Bridge crossLng the Atlantic Coast Line RR tracks, near
Hickory Hill. Upon consideration %vhereof and on motion, it is resolved that
the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is requested to try to ob~in a 10-foot
ladditional right of way.
On motion, the meeting is adjourned until 10:00 a.m., September il, 1951.
