his report for the month of October, 1951, ~howing expenees incurred in that
office of which the County has paid two-thirds or $1083.33, t.be remainder to
be paid by the State, and t he Board approving the same, the report is filed.
This day, Mr. M. A. Cogbill, Coxm~onwealth's Attorney, submitted to the Board
his report for the month of October, 1951, showing expenses incurred in that
office in the amount ofi)6OO.00, of which the County has paid one-half or
;~3OO.OO, the remainder to be paid by the State, and the Board approving the

This day Dr. Wm. H. Lewis, represented by ~. Jack Barney and ~tr. A. B.
Uindlmm, came before the Board seeking the rezoning from Agriculture to
General Business of the following parcel of land:
In Bermuda Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 838 feet
on the 300 feet business area on Rt. #l and extending easterly f rom
*said business area 300 feet, said parcel being approximately 2,000 feet
south from the intersection of Zt. i and Rt. 613, to be rezoned from
Agriculture to General Business on an application of Dr. Wm. H.Lewis.
This request having been duly advertised and property holders notified
and there appearing no one in opposition to same, it is resolved on motion
of Mr. H. T. Goyne, seconded by Mr. J. C. ~cKesson, that this Board doth gramt
the rezoning of said parcel of land from Agriculture to General Business.
This day Mr. F. B. Colbert appeared before the Board requesting the rezoning
from Agriculture to General Business ofthe following parcel of land:
In ~,~toaca Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 1OO feet
on Rt. 628 and extending northwardly 200 feet, said parcel being
approximately 2200 feet from the intersection of Rt. 669 and Rt. 628,
to be rezoned from Agriculture to General Business on an application
of Mr. F. B. Colbert.
And there appearing no one in protestation of the same, it is on motion of
Mr. Irvin G. Homer, seconded by ~r. J. C. ~cKesson, resolved that this
Board doth grant the r~zon~ng of said parcel of land from Agricultural to
General Business.
This day Mr. R. Pinkney Sowers, representing ~. J..A. Smith, appeared before
the Board requesting the rezoning from Residential-2 to Local Busine ss
the following parcel of land:
In Manchester Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 424 feet on
the south side of Rt. 683, and fronting 230 feet on the westerly side of
Leicester Road comprising 5 acres more or less, gaid parcel being 800
feetwesterly from the ACL. R.R. to be rezoned from Residential-2 to
Local Business. And since this matter was deferred from the previous
meeting of this Board and after much deliberation of said matter, it
is resolved on motion of J. C. McKesson, seconded by J. G. Hening,
that this Board doth deny, without prejudice the rezoning of said
land from Residential-2 to Local Busimess. ~
This day Mr. J. Bagby Womble, representing ~rs. Oorothy ChiarZy, appeared
before the Board see$ing the rezoning from Agricultural to General Business
of the following parcel of land:
In Bermuda Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting 300 feet on
the east side of Mills Road, extending back 300 feet and adjacent to the
north side of Cobbs Road, to be rezoned from Agricultural to General
Business on the application of Mrs. Dorothy Chiarky.
There came also Mr. D. W. Murphey, representing those opposing said rezoning.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. H. T. Goyne, s~conded by
~tr. Irvin G. Homer, it is resolved that this Board reject the request for
rezoning, without prejudice. It is here noted that Mr. J. C. McKesson
voted in the negative.

the Board advising the Board that their current budge~ will have to be exceeded
in certain items, namely, by the employment of additional teachers.
It is here noted that Miss Lucy Corr, Supt. of Welfare, appeared the Board
presenting the annual report of ~e Welfare Department.
This day the Executive Secretary presented a proposal fromthe Engineering
Corps of the Army reouesting any objection to the changing of notice of
the drawing of t he seaboard Airline Ry. bridge across the Appomattox River.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion, it is resolved that the notice
be received and filed.

This day the ~,atter of increasing the revenues in the County Treasury came
before the Doard. Upon consideration wba,-~of and on motion, it is agreed
that the Executive oecretary draw up a list of license fees which could be
imposed in the County of Chester£ield. It is further agreed that the
Lx,.cutive ~ecretary write '~ letter to the Du}>ont Company advising t'.~em that
we are studying the possibility ot' increasing the 10~ machinery tax and
seeking their feelings in the matter.

resolved that this r~oard doth employ ~dr. Jilliam Laini~ to be the
~uperintendent at a salary of .~250.00 per year, beginning December 15, 1951.
