Board of Supervisors of
Chesterfield County, held at the
Courthouse on l~arch 18, 1952 at
8:00 p.m.
Present:

This day the matter of the Board appointing a W
member to the elfare Board came
up for consideration. On motion of Dr. ~obt. O. Gill, seconded by Mr. S. R.
Hague, it is resolved that this Board recommend to the Judge of the Circuit
Court that the services of Mr. P. W. Covington be continued on the Welfare Board.
This day the School Board met with the Board of Supervisors and Mr. E. S. H.
Greene, Oupt. of Schools, explained the proposed budget for the School Board,
which budget amounted to $954,752.61.
On motion of Mr.S.R. Ha.~ue, seconded by Mr. R. J. Britton, the matter of salary
for the Executive Secretary is hereby referred to the Salary Committee for study
and report.
On motion of Rjr. S. R. Hague, seconded by t~. H. T. Joyne, it is resolved that
the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is directed to install a 4" connection
somewhere at Chesterfield Courthouse for use in case offire or other emergencies.
This day the Executive Secretary advised that the Finance Committee as set out
by the laws of the County, had no citizen member as required by said law.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~r. R. J. Britton, seconded by
Mr. J. P. Gunter, it is resolved that this Board recommen$ to the Judge of
Circuit Court the below listed names, listed in order of preference:Mr. T. D.
Watkins, Mr. Garland Chewning and Mr. Jack Bates.
It is here noted that ~r. Go]me and l~r. Hague voted in the negative.
This Board adjourned until 8:00 p.m. ~onday, March 31st, at which time the
Board will convene primarily for the consideration of its road budget.
