04-04-1952 MinutesVIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at' the Courthouse on April 4, 1952, at 8:00 p.m. Present: Irvin G. Homer, Chairman H. T. Goyne J. P. Gunter R. J. Britton Robt. O. Gill S. R. Hague, Jr. This day 'a group of citizens appeared before the Board seeking some relief in the quality of telephone service in their area as rendered by The C&P Telephone C ompan y. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr. H. T. Goyne, second~ by Mr. R. J. Dritton, it is resolved that the Chairman appoint a Committee %O wait on the CaP Tele¥,hone Company in regard to said service in the area north of Proctor's Creek to the Bellwood Depot in Dermuda District, and if such action should fail, to bring the desired results, said Co~mmittee be authorized to go to %he State Corporation Co~mnission to seek the relief necessary. The Chairman appointed l~ir. H. T. Goyne and the Executive Secretary to act as this Go~nittee. This day the Executive Secretary presen%ed a request from Mrs. Ethel P. Smith, Field Director of the Virginia and Virginia County Magazine for an ad of one pag$ at the price of ~175.O0, said ad to be in the June issue which would currently' feature the County of Chesterfield. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ]~r. H. T. Goyne, seconded by Mr. J. P. Gunter, it is resolved that the sum of ~175.00 be and it hereby is appropriated from the unexpended surplus of the General Fund of the County to the Virginia ~gazine for said advertisement. This day Mr. E. S. H. Greene, Supt. of Schools, oresented to the Board a request from the School Board to appropriate $21,000.00 to cover the costs of salaries of extra teachers for the current year ending June 30, 1952. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of R~. J. F. Gunter, seconded by Mr. R. J. Britton, it is resolved that the amount of $21,000.00 be and it hereby is appropriated from the unexpended surplus of the General Fund to the School Board to cover salaries of extra teachers for the current year. This day the Executive secretary presented certain portions of the proposed bud~]et for the year ending June 30, 1953. After much discussion the meeting was adjourned until the regular meeting of the Board on april 8, 1952. Executive Secretary Chairman
