On motion of Mr. R. J. ~ritton, seco~lded by Mr. S. '~. Hague, Jr.~ it is resolved
t~at the Executive Sec~,et~ry be dissected to investi?~ate the matter of long
distance calls over the Courthouse 'phones, seeking to devise some system
whereby said calls could be controlled.

This day the Executive SeCretary reported that up to trois time the Sa~itary
Pistrict of ~ttrick had ;~ot particif~ted i~ the tax avails from corporations
withi~ the Sanitary Disti'ict boundaries.

is requested to investigate this problem with i~[r. Moore, Corm~issioner of
Reve:~ue, and report at the next meetin?;.
The undersigned County Road Lngin(~er havin~q been directed at a ~revious
meetin ~ of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterf{eld County to examine Paul's
Lane in the subdivision of "Piney Knolls" in ~ls~chester Maiiisterial District,
aad report to this Board the expediency of establishinq said road as a public
road, rel,o~'ted as follows:
That he we~t upon said road and examined the same and is of the opinion
t~at t~-,ere is a necessity for the establishme~t of same as a public road, a'ad
further:
(1) The said road will be of ~reat public convenience
(2) It will not be ,of mere private convenie~ce
(3) No yard, ./~arden or orchard will be taken
(4) The said road is in a dubdivision of land dedicated to
the Corn ~onwealth of Virginia a~d therefore land o%~aers
along said road will not receive compensation
(5) No land o%m]er requires compensation
(6) There. will be no compensation
This day the County Road ",n~ineer in accordance with directions from this
Board made report in writing upon his exami~ation of Paul~ La~e in the
subdivision of "Piney Knolls" in ,'~mchester Magisterial District, which
report shows that in theopinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient
that said road be established as a i;ublic road.
Upon cons.~deration w~ereof, and on motion of ~r. R. J. Brittoa, seconded
by ~Qr. Hague, it is resolved t~at Paul's Lane in the subdivision of "Piney Knolls"
in Manchester District, be m~d the same is hereby established as a public road.
And be it further resolved that the Virginia Department of liighways be and it
hereby is requested to take i~to the Secondary Oystem of Chesterfield Coumty,
Paul's Lane, from a point on Rt. 1652, .51 of a mile westwardly from the in-
tersection oi' Rt. 10 and Rt. 1052 .11 of a mile northwardly to a dead end.
This road serves approximately 5 houses. ~d be it f~rther resolved that
~he Board of ~upervisors of Chesterfield County guarantees a ri~!?~t-of-way of
not less tha~ 50 £ee~ for this road to the Virginia Departme~t of Highways.
The undersigned County Road 'Engineer having been directed at a previous
meeting of ~he Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County to examine i{ucker
Lane, Norborne Road and Elmore Lane in the subdivision of "Wendell Far~ns" in
I,~chester Magisterial District, and report to this Board the expediency of
establishing said roads as public roads, reported as follows:
That he went upon said roads ~nd e~amined the same and is of the opinion
that there is a necessity for the establishment of s~ae as public roads, and
f~r the r:
(1) The said roads will be of ?]teat public convenience
(2) That they will not be of mere private convenience
No yard, garden or orchard will be taken
The said roads are in a subdivision of land dedicated to the
Commonwealth of Virginia and therefore land o~aners along said
roads will not receive compensation
(5) No land owner requires com?ensation
(6) There will be no compensation
This day the County Road ~gineer in accordance with directions from this Board
made report in writing upon his examination of l{ucker Lane, Norborne Road and
Elmore Lane in the subdivision of "Wendell Farms" in Manchester Magisterial
District, which report shows tibet in the opinion of the County Road Engineer
it is expedient ~hat said roads be established as ~ublic road.
Upon consideration whereof, a~d on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by ~.
Gunter, it is resolved that Rucker L~e, Norborne Road and Eimore Lane, in the
su0division of "Wendell Farms" in Manchester ~gisterial District, be ~d the
same are hereby established as ~ubtic roads. And be it further resolved that
~e Virginia Depart~ent of Hi~?~ways be a~d it hereby is requested to take into
the ~econdary ~oad System of Chesterfield County, ~ucker Lane, from a point
on Rt. 644, .03 of a mile eastwardly from the intersection of Rt. 1650 and Rt.
644, .1 of a mile northwardly ~o Norborne Road; Norborne Road, from the inter-
section of Rucker Lane eastwardly and parallel with Rt. 644 .21 of a mile to
Elmore lane; Elmore Lane, ~rom its intersection with ~orborne Road .1 of a mile
southwardly to Rt. 644. These roads serve approximately 20 houses.
A~d be it further resolved that the Board of Super¥isors of Chesterfield County
guarantees a righ-of-way o£ not less than 50 feet £or these roads to the Virginia
Department of Hi~hway~
This day the School Eo~.~rd met with the Board of Supervisors and Mr. Greene,
Supt. of Schools, pres~nteda plan of re-arr~onging the drive-ins to the
Midlothian School, said drive-ins involved certain rights-of-way on a
dedicated road.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~lr. Hague, seconded by I~ir.
Gunter, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be requested to investigate
the width of the right-of-way north of the Midlot~ian ~hool, said road running
next and adjacent to the Midlothian Fire Department.-
This day the Supt. of Schools, Mr. E. S. H. Greene, presented a request for an
additional allocation of ~20,000.00 to cover certain deficiencies in various
categories of the school budget.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~r. Haiku^
Britton, it is resolved that this Board defer action in this matter until its
next meeting and t~mt a st~.~dy of this request be made by this Board.
