November 25, 1952, at 8:00 p.m.

This day representatives of the Forest View Fire Department came before the
Board stating that they were having some difficulty in locating a site for the
Forest View Volunteer Fire Department building and stating further that they
had tentatively obtained Lot 20 in the subdivision of Raleigh Court, which lot
had only 7,000 square feet.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of l~r. oritton, seconded by ~'~.
Gunter, it is resolved that this Board grant a Variance from its Building Code
restrictions and allow the Fire ~tation to be built on said lot, if such be
desired.
This day delegations from the Volunteer Fire Department of Matoaca and Clover
Hill came before the Board citing the fact that their equipment was almost in-
operative and requested new equipment.
A~er much discussion it was generally agreed that said two fire departments
would receive new trucks as early in the next fiscal year as possible.
This day ~lr. Roy W. Murrell residing on Oogbill Road in the subdivision of Meadow
Ridge came before the Board requesting a Variance from the Building Code which
requires all buildings setback from property lines at least ten feet, stating
further that he had inadvertantly dug his footings 5 feet from his property line
on the only place in his yard suitable for a garage.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of Mr. hague, seconded by
Britton, it is resolved that the Supervisor of Dale District and the Executive
Secretary be and they are hereby authorized to v Lmw this property and are re-
,uested to render a decision in the best interest of all concerned.
This day Mr. C. M. Waldrop and ~r. F. B. Jones representing Amelia County, came
before the Board discussing the proposed installation of a bridge between U~e
said County of Amelia and Chesterfield County.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~Ar. Gunter, seconded by
Britton, the following resolution is adopted:
Whereas, at present there is no bridge across the Appomattox River between
Beville's Bridge on Rt. 602 and ~'~toace Bridge on Rt. 600, the former being
subject to flooding, and
Whereas, t here is a definite need for such a bridge somewhere between these
two points, and
Whereas, the Boamd of Supervisors of Chesterfield County after viewing both
sides of the Appomattox River in this area in conjunction with the Board of
Supervisors of Amelia County, feel that a bridge across the Appomattox somewhere
in the vicinity of the Winterpock Creek would fill a definite need,
Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, by the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield
County, Virginia, that it request the Virginia Department of Hi!!~hways to make
thenecessary surveys as to the exact location of the approaches and bridge of
this proposal.
This day ~r. Warren Perrow and ~r. Austin Brockenbrough appeared before the Board
presented amended plans for the sewage plant in the County of Chesterfield along
with several proposal for :~ans of financing.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~4r. Gunter, seconded by
Britton, it is resolved that this Board present all data on the proposed sewer
system to the planning Board when it is appointed for their consideration.
This d ay the matter of appointing a Planning Commission came before the Board
and
Whereas, it was generally agreed tZ~t five (5) citizen members would be appoint-
ed along with one member from the Board of Supervisors and the Executive~
Secretary
N~ow, Therefore, Be it ~esolved, on motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by ~. Britton,
that ~r. Irvin Homer be and he hereby is appointed to the Planning Commission as
its representative from the Board of Supervisors.
On motion of AVAr. Britton, seconded by ~'~r. Gunter, it is resolved that the
following named citizens be and t hey are hereby appointed to the County Planning
Commission:

This day C. W. Smith, Chief of Police, came before the Board requesting that
the Board recommend to the Judge of Circuit Court, the appointment of Mr.
James Fitzgerald Ogborne, as Police Officer.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~r. hague, seconded by Dr. Gill,
i~ is resolved that ~. James Fitzgerald Ogborne be and he hereby is recommended
to the Hon. J. Garland Jefferson for appointment as Police officer of the Uounty
of Chesterfield.
This day the Executive Secretary presented a bill to the Board of Supervisors
from the League of Virginia Counties in the amount of $300.00, the same being
annual dues to said League.
~ Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~,[r. ~ague, seconded by Mr.
Gunter, it is resolved t[mt t his b ill in the amount of $300.00 be paid.
This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from ~'lr. Patrick A. Gibson, of
the legal firm of Hunter, Williams, Anderson, Gay and Moore, requesting the
Board of Supervisors to make a survey of a suggested road and to have said road
constructed if possible, said road connecting Rt. 10 and Rt. 618, approximately
one mile west of the James River.
Upon consideration whereof mid on motion of *~r. Gunter, seconded by Dr. Gill,
it is resolved that this Board request the Virginia Department of Highways to
made the survey of this road according to the suggested plans of the plat
accompanying this resolution.
This day it was reported that the National Aniline Division of the Allied Chemical
and Dye Corporationg has definitely decided to construct a plant in the south-
eastern part of the County, in consideration of which and on motion of ~ir.
Gunter, seconded by Nr. ~ague, it is resolved that the County through its various
offices render every aid possible to facilitate the establishment of the said
$orporation's plant in the County of Chesterfield.
On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by ~'~r. Gunter, it is resolved that the Executive
Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to install fire hydrants at the inter-
section of Rt. 36 and Warren Avenue and at the intersection of the Osborne Road
and Elmwood Lane.
On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by ~[r. Britton, it is resolved that the Executive
Secretary be and he hereby is directed to install a water line from the existing
2" line on Rt. 628 northweastwardly along a connecting road to Rt. 627.
On motion of ~r. Gunter, seconded by ~r. Britton, it is resolved that this Board
authorize the Treasurer of the County to trmnsfer $25,000.00 from the General
Fund of the County to the Construction Fund of the Utility Department.
On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by ~r. Britton, it is resolved that this Board
request the Virginia Depanment of Highways to improve tile ~acy Road by p~tting
gravel on the rough portions of the road at a cost not to exceed $150.00, which
cost is to be ~mid from the 3¢ Road Fund of the County.
