04-20-1954 MinutesVIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, held at the Courthouse on April 20, 1954, at ?:30 p.m. Present: [rvin G. Homer, Chairman H.T. Goyne Robt. O. Gill Stanley R. Hagur, Jr. J.P. Gunter R.J. Elritton This day there was read a request from Mr. R.M. Hancock for the extension of the water lines along Route ~ 1, northwardly from Pine Acres, approximately .3 of a mileo Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of mr. Go)~e, seconded by M~. Gunter, it is rexolved that this extension of the ~" main which is a part of the .Master Plan of the County be installed, the installation of which will be placed in line after certain other Master Plan lines have been laid. On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Gunter, it is resolved that any action on the water line to the ~outhampton swishing pool be deferred until a future meeting. On motion of Mr. l~itton, seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that this hoard request the County Health Department to make an investigation of the sanitary condition of the Turner Body Shop on Rt. 360. This day it was reported that the Telephone ~ompany had notified the County offict~ that the Gompany had asked for a raise in the present telephone rates, and Whereas, the Telephone Company recently received a raise in its rate schedule, and Whereas, the present rates seem to be giving adequate returns, and Now, Therefore, ~ it Resolved on motion of ~. Gunter~ seconded by ~r. Hague, that this Board will aggressively oppose the requested raise in telephone rates. This day there was presented a standard contract for the extension of water mains which contract had been designed by the 0ommonwealth Attorney, s office. Upon consideration whereof~ and on motion of Air. ~itton, seconded by Mr. Gunter, it is resolved that this contract be and the s~me is hereby approved and made the standard contract to be signed by applicants wishing the extension of water ~ins. On motion of Mr. Gunter, seconded by ~r. Britton, it is resolved that the policy of this ~ard until it be changed at some future date, shall be for the Chairman of its k~ard and its Executive Secretary be and the same are hereby authorized to sign all contracts for the extensio~ of wate~ lines if said contracts are in accor~ with the policy of extending water lines as expressed by the ~oard of Supervisors. This day the Executive Secretary presented three {3) bids for the wiring of the School storage building. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~r. Hague, seconded by Mr. h~ltton, it is resolved that the work of wiring the School Storage Building be given to the Boatwright Electrical Gompany, which Company submitted the low bid of those received, On motion of Dr. Gill, seconded by ~r. Gunter, it is resolved that this ~ard authorize the ~easurer of the County to invest surplus money in the Ettriok Sanitary District in long-term bonds to mature not later than October 1, 1958, the s~e being the recommendation of the Finance ~ard of the County. On motion of ~r. Gunter, seconded by Dr. Gill, it is resolved that this ~ard authorize the ~easurer of the County to seek the collection of authorized taxes from banks and unincorporated villages within the Countyrs limits.
