Jack Barney, Atty. representing citizens from the Village of Ettrick and Matoaca District~ stated th~C he had been advised that the Board of Supervisors l had requested the School Board not to permit high school students of Matoaca District to attend Petersburg High School, and thatthe School Board acting on this request had pass, ed a resolution statin~ that after this session no student would be permitted to attend Petersburg High School unless they were willing toyaY their own tuition~ snd a very lively debate and hearing followed. ~nereupon, it was made clear that the Board of Supervisers was not at~empting to dictate to the School Board but that the Question had been raised by the members of the Board of Supervisors regarding payment of tuition to Petersburg for the ~toaca District School children, and that the members of theBoard, with the exception of l~r.P.W.Covington~ had approved the sug£]estion to the School Board the% this practice be discontinued. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of p.v;.Covington, it is r~solved that the present policy of paying tuition to Petersburg High School be continued. This motion died for t_h~ want of a second. And be it further resolved on motion of H.T.uoy] e, that this Board re, commend to the Chesterfield County School Board that all students from Chesterfield County who have completed two years at the Petersburg Junior High Schoolbe permitted to finish High School at the Petersburg Senior High School ~rith the School Board paying the tuition for the same as formerly paid by the Board. This day the Executive Secretary st:~ted that the application of J.E.Huband for the rezoning of Lot 12, on Grattcn Avenue~ in the Redfor~ Subdivision, havin~ been duly advertised was in line for action. And there appeared no one objecting to the rezonin?,, it is resolved on ~tion of J.C.McKesson that the application be ~ ~ ~ t in the Redford Subdivisions, granted for the rezonin~ of ~o~ 12, on .~rat on Avenue~ from Residential to Local Business. '~his day a delegation representing the Enon-Point O'Rocks area came before the Board, stating that they ,had organized a volunteer fire Department in accordance with requirements of the Board of Supervisors of Chester[~ield County and ,,,~ere read~ to meet all necessary provisions of these requirements. Upon c onsider~tion whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instructed to investigate the possibility of pu~-c~asing a truck and having s~ne equipped for this fire department in a¢~corda~ce with the policy of the Board of Supervisors. James W.Gordon, Jr., r~lled the Board's attention to the fact that thence was in Chester a piec~ of fire equipment which had been recently rebuilt and was there for t,~mporary use, and stated that the volunteer fir~ department in Midlothian was organized and ready for a piece of equipment. Upon consideration vhereof, and on motion of Js~nes ?~.Gordon, Jr., it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to transfer this piece of fire equipment now in CheWer to liidlothia~ Fire Department as soon as %he Chester equipraent has been rebuilt and available for delivery. ;~nd be it furthest resolved that second ~iece of e~uipment be procured ~ for the Ettrick Volunteer Fire Department as soon as possible.
