County, held at the Courthouse at
8:00 p.m. on March 16, 1949

There anpeeared before the Board a delegation from the Kingsland area, again
requesting that water lines be extended from Bellewood Manor to #l and as much
along #l as could be supported. After a lengthy discussion, end on motion
of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is
instructed to have installed a 6" water line fromthe water system in Bellewood
~anor along Willis Road to the intersection withRt.628 and around Rt.628, across
~l to-Rt. 1625, thence along Rt. 1625 to its intersection withal and Ki, ngsland
Creek, and along #l from the intersection of ~1 to Rt. 1625 to Raymond s Service
Station, as soon as sufficient number Of connections kve beeh paid for to give a
12% return on the cost of installation.
And be it further resolved that there be spent for t~e installing of pipe, no~
including the cost of pipe, not more than $5,000.00.
This day a delegation from the Ettrick Voluntee~ Fire Deparment appeared before
the Board and stated that they were in need of a new fire truck in Ettrick to
serve the outlying territory a nd that if the CourZy would furnish a new truck
for that purpose that thevwould be glad to relieve the County of any payment of
monew to them for their services. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion
of P.W.Covington, the Executive Secretary is instructed to endeavor to get prices
mn a new chassis and thebuilding of a fire body on the same, and report to this
Board at the April meeting.
This day Mr. BrockwelI stated that the doors of the fire house at Ettrick needed
some repairs and they had found more satisfactory doors c ould'be installed for
$175.00. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P.W.Covington, it is
resolved that the Ettrick Volunteer Fire Department b e instructed to have'
new doors installed in the Ettrick Fire house at a cost not toexceed $175.00.
This day the Executive Secretary presented t he budget for Chesterfield County
for the'year 1949-'50 inclusive of the School Budget amd the Departmen~ of Publi~
Welfare, and s rated it had been approved bY the Budget Committee. Upon
consideration whereof, and onmotion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the budget
for 19&9-'50 as submitted be and it hereby is tentatively adopted, and the
following leviesfor the Near 1949 were tmntatively fixed as foll~s: All Distri~t~
$2.0~; Ettrick Sanitary District $2.40; machinery 10¢. And the Board thereupon
fixed Wednesdaw, April 27, 19&9, at 8:00 p.m. as the time for the final hearing an~
adoption of this budget.
Ordered that %he meeting be now adjourned until 2:00 p.m. March 18, 1949.
