report for the month of September, 1950, sho¥ing expenses incurred in that office
of which the County has paid two-thirds or $971.33, the remainder go be paid by
the State, and the Board approving the same, the report is filed.
This day, P~. M.A.Cogbill, Commonwealth's Attorney, submitted to the Board his
report for the month of September, 1950, showing expenses incurred in that office
in the amount of $~58.33, of which the Countyhas paid one-half or $279.16, the
remainder to be paid by the State, and the Board approving the same the report is
filed.

This day again uhe mat%er of a purchase of a truck for the Chief Fire 1%'~arden came
before the Board, and on motion, i% is resolved bha~ the matter De deferred until
%his i~oara and the Execu~,ive SecreLary could see the equipment.
On motion, the request of 14r. Palmer to house certain eGuipment in the Fair 1]r~unds
~uildings ~as denied.
This day there was presented to this Board a certified C~urt Order directing this
Board to pay a bill rendered to this Board by the Times-Dispatch, £{ichmond, Virginiai,
in the ~mount of $48.60, and it appearin,7 that the said bill is approximately eight I
years old, it is on uotion resolved that the matter be referred to the Co~muonwealth i's
Attorney to determine whether or not such bill is out of date.
%Vhereas, the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, Virginia, at a regular
meetingheld on the 8th day of Octooer, 1949, was requested by J.C.Perrow, Agent
for the heirs of Henrietta J.Perrow, to abandon certain portions of Tidewater Street
as shown on the Plat of East Chester duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of Chester-
field County, Virginia, in Plat Book //2, pa~e 306, but through misunderstanding
abandoned all of Tidewater street as shown on said plat, and
~i'~hereas, this day appeared J.B.Womble, Atty. for J.~.Perrow and requested the Board
to abandon portions of the following streets, viz:
All of that portion of Dodamead Street and Tidewater Street lying between Petersbur~
Street and the in%ersection of Dodamead Street with Tidewater Street, and
Upon motion duly mad~ and seconded it is resolved that the Board of Supervisors of
Chesterfield County, Virginia, do hereby rescind its action taken on october 8, 1949
and upon a further motion duly made and seconded it is resolved that all of that
portion of Dodomead Street, shown on the Plat of East Chester, lying on the north-
easterly side of PetersOurg Street be abaadone~ , and all of %hat portion of Tid~wat'~r
Street, shown on said plak, between th~ eas~erly side of Petersburg Stre~.t and the
intersection of said Tidewater Street, with th~ said Dodomead Street be abandoned
as a road and a stre~.t.
This day the Executive Secretary presented to the Board a letter from Jones & Robins
setting out that this corporation was entitled to reimbursement of ~1,000.OO for
additional bu!ldin~s built in "We~tover Gardens". Upon consideration ~ereof,
and it appearin~ that two additional buildings had been sb built, it is on motion
resolved that the sum of ~1,000.00 be paid to Franklin Jones, of Jone~ & ~obins, according
to the contract heretofore entered int~.
This day the Executive Secretary presented a letter from the Dept. of itighways
specifically, J.G. ~'~cWane, ~raffic and Planning Engineer, Virginia Dept. of Hi~]hways~,
concerning this Board's resolution of speed zones o~' Rt. /~l, at Dutch ~ap and ~n
Snea~ Road. Upon consideration where, of, the said letter is received and filed.
On motion, ~.t is resolved that th~ sum of ~° 677.11 be and it hereoy is transferred
from the operating Fund of the Utility De. partma~nt to the Construction Fund of said
Department.

Fund of the County to th~ Construction Fund of ~h~ Utility Department. ~ir.J.G.

$25,000.O0 tobe credited to the General County Fund.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion it is resolved, that this ~o~r~ borrow
the sum of ~25,O00.00.
~md the Treasurer of the County of Chesterfield is authorized and empowered to borrqw
from some banking institution the said sum of ~)25,000.00 on behalf of this Board.
It is resolved that the small electric meter on the Fair Grounds meterin~ the current
going into the Courthouse grounds be and the same is hereby ordered to be purchased.~
This day there was presen~.~d to this Boar~ a resolution of the Board of Supervisors
of Bedford County, Virginia, concerning Social Security for County and 8rate
employees. On motion, it is ordered that the same be received and filed.
un motion, it is resolved that a ~" water pipe line be installed from Pu%liam Strea~
along Fifth Street to Brookw~od Road. And be it further resolved that this
construction be begun immediately.
This day the Game Warden, ~-~r.E.J.Gorman, presented claims for chickm~s and livesto9k
killed by dogs in the amount of ~76.50. Upon consideration whereof, it is reso!vled
that same be paid.
on :notion, it is resolved that the Virginia Department of Hi~.~hways be and it hereb~
isrequestad to take into ~he Secondary Road System, drivewaysa t the followiag

On motion, it is resolved that the sum not to exce~d ~1,O70.O0 be expended in the
construction of theBangle Road, I~nchester District, Ehesterfield County, chargeaol~
to the 3¢ road levy.
This day the Resident Engineer, Virginia Department of Highways, presented to the
Board several plats showing the changes of roads by reason of thc construction of
the new ';,~e~tham Bridge over the James River, and requested this Board to abandon
certain roads or portions thereof as indicated on the plats, and a further reguest
for abandonment for maintenanc ~ of certain ~ortions of Jahnke Road and certain
portions of Buford 2oad. Upon consideration ~ereof, and on .notion, it is resoiv~
that the said portions of said roads respectively oe auld they are hereby abandoned

Benevolent Association of Chesterfield County, came before the Board and requested
this Board to appropriate to the Police Benevolent Association as authorized by the
Acts of Assembly of 19&4, any sum of money that the Board may deem proper.
Upon consideration ~hereof, and on motion, it is resolved that the sum o f .~250.O0
be and the same is hereby appropriated from the mnexpended balance of the General
Fund.
And be it further resolved that the budget be and it hereby is amended accordingly~
This day the B~ard received a communication from W.F.Powers~ Colonel Corps. of
Engineers~ U.S. Army, concerning water ~ights, e~c. on the James River. Upon
consideration whereof, and on motion, the same is ordered to be received and filed.
on motion, it is resolved that' the sum not to exceed $100.00 be expended on the
northern portion of Wentworth Avenue in the Village or Bensley, chargeable to the
3¢ road fund.
On motion, it is resolved that the sum not to exceed $25.00 be expended on the
Simpson ]{oad, chargeable to the 3¢ road fund.
This day there was presented tothis Board a copy ~f a resolution of Lh~ County
School Board of Chesterfield County, accepting the bid of C.E.~uckols in the mnount
of ~203~535.O0 for th~ construction of ~qidlothian School. Upon consideration
whereof~ and on motion, it is resolved that the action of the Uounty School Board
of Chesterfield County as indicated ini ts resolution be an~ the same is hereby
approved. ~4r.J.G.Hening and i~ir.J.C.McKesson voted "No" andre~uested that
their votes be so recorded.
This day there w~,s presented to t'.is Board a resolution of the County School Board
of Chesterfield County ~Wnerein said Board directed a further study of the Jahnke
Road School plans. Upon consideration whereof and on motion, it is resolved
that the action of the Scho~l Board be and it hereby is approved.

of Chesterfield County making application for a supplementary loan for ~4idlothian
School ~n the amount of $30,000.00 and.request~.~d that the State Board of Education
be requested to cancel this amount of ,~30~0OO.O0 from the former application for
Ettrick School and transfer said amount to ~idlothian School.
Upon consideration whereof and on motion it is resolved that the action of the
County School Board as indicated in its resolution be and the same is hereby approVed.
This day there was presented a resolution of the County School Board of Chesterfiet~
