Supervisors of Chesterfield
County, held at the Courthous~
on Novembe~ 2, 1950 at 8:00p.l~.
This day again the mat~er of the improvement of Hudson and Beverly Streets in the
Roane Subdivision in ~atoaca District, came before the Board. Upon consideratio~
.whereof, and on motion, it is resolved that this Board expend a sum not to exceed
~500.00 on said roadways, chargeable to the 3¢ road fund, on the condition that
the residents and owners of property in that subdivision provide the additional
sum o f $~4.00.
On motion, it is resolved that an Insurance Rating Committee be appointed by the
Chairman of this Bce rd. It is here noted that the Chairmana ppointed, ~essrs.
Homer and Goyne a s this Committee.
On motion, it is resolved that a request be made of the R.B.Augustine Insurance
Agency, Inc. to grant this County a ten-day binder on the Courthouse buildings
in the amount of '.~25,000.00, dependin~ on the furth~.~r appraisal of said building.
Whereas, it appears that the General Assembly of Virginia of 1950, has ~provided
general model school plans for use in the several political suodivisions of the
State. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion, it is resolved that the
County School Board of Chesterfield County be and it is hereby requested to use
these school plans, already provided by the State of Virginia, if practicable,
where new scho~ls a re built.
This day again the mat~er of the C~un~y-wide water system and the central s o~u~ce
of supply came before the Board, and came ~r. Warren C. Perrow and ~r. Austin
Brockenbrough, Jr., ~gineers, and presented amended plans, etc. showing t~
location of lines and proposed water sources. Upon consideration whereof and
on motion, it is resolved that the plansas submitted by Messrs. Perrow and
Brockenbrough be and the s amc a re tentatively approved.
And be it further resolved that M.~Y.Burnett, Executive Secretary be and he hereby
is authorized and directed to confer with ~,~.Ross Millhizer and ~,n3. John C.Goddin
concerning the acquisition of the wa~er supply site set out in the plans above
mentioned; ~. ~illhiser and ~a~. Goddin beihg the owners of this property.
And ~he E~ecutive Secretary shall report to this Boar~ at the next regular meeting.I
T!~is day ~'~. ~'~arren C. Perrow a~'~d Ydr. Austin Brockenbrough, Jr., Engineers,
presented to this Board their study and recommendation of the sewerage treatment
in the EttrickSanitary District. Upon consideration whereof and on motion, it
is resol~ ed that the said report an8 reconm~endation be received and furthest that
vhe ~ atter be referred to the Ettrick Sanitary District Committee for its study
and report.
This day C.W. Smith, C:~ief of }olice, of Chesterfield County, came before the Board
and st~ ed tha~the ~rmed service had inducat~d his Chief Dispatcher and Clerk and
he would like aut~ority to employ some person to fill his place,upon the condition
that if the Clerk-Dispatcher when he returned desired his job the position of
the person now employed would be terminated. Upon consideration whereof and on
motion, the Chief of Y'olice, C.W.Smith, is hereby directed to employ some person
to fill the position of Clerk-Dispatcher in the Police Department.
on motion, it is resolva~d that the Chief of Police be re~ueoted to direct all
patrolmen under his direction to chec~ on all new const .uction to see thst al!
o~acrs or contractors have a building permit for same and report any infraction
in the County's building code to the Executive Secretary.
Whereas, it appears that this Boar~] meets regularly once a month, and
Wher~.~as~ it ~ecomes necessary for the Executive Secretary to p~chase certain
articles for the orderly construction and maintenance of the County ~rater systems
without the intervention of the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on
motion, it is ~esolved that the Executive Secretary be and he herebY is authorized
to purchase, in his discretion~ such supplies~ materials, and services to him may
seem necessary. ~
This day again the matter of the purchase of a multigraph machine for the use
of this County came before the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and onmotion
it is resol~ d that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized and
directed to purchase a multigraph machine for the use of Chesterfield County.
And be it further resolved that the Executive Secretary be authorized to purchase
a paper cutter and a vari-type typewriter to be used in the operation of the
multigraph machine, the same to be purchased second-hand if practicable.
