VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the l
Board of Supervis~rs of C'neoter-
field County, held at the
Court~ouse on November 21, 195(,
at 8:00 p.m.
This day a group of citizens from the Broad ~ock Section, living along what is
known as Cook's Road appeared before the Board and presented a petitionto"make
legal" the name of Cook's Road. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion,
it is resolved that this Board has no authority to "make legal" or chan3~e the nmne
of any road in a subdivision.
And be it further resolved that the petition be filed with the paper~ of this Boardi.
This day the matter of this Board's ordinance reouiring the vaccination of' dogs
against rabies came before the Board. Upon consideration whereof, and on motionI
of Irvin G. Homer, s econde~ by H.T.~oyne, it is resolved tha~ said ordinance be
and the same is hereby repealed.
And be it fur~er resolved that this is an emergency and this resolution is in full'
force and effect from its passage.
~ir. Hening and Mr. McKesson voted "No" and requested that their votes be so
recorded.
~n motion, it is resolved that this Board recess for awhile.
The Boar~ resumed session.
This d~y in accordance with the Board's direction ti~e Executive S~cr¢,ary presented
to this Board a salary schedule of some of the employed personnel of the County of
several departments and his reco~aendation as to additional compensation for them.
Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, seconded by J.C.~Kesson,
it is resolved that the salary list presented be filed as part of this Board's
minutes and that the recommendation as shown on the schedule as amended by this
Board be approved and become effective December 1, 1950.

Treasurer, J.Wm.Dance, be and he hereby is directed to pay the loans to the
several banks from which they were authorized bY'this.Board.
on motion of J.G.H~ing, it ~ resolved that J.Wm. Dance, Tr~asurer,'be and he
hereby is directed to pay the interest on the loans from the several banks as
authorized by this Board.
The Board _~aving before it the business of receiving bids on the construction of
Union Branch & Bon Air Schools, all bids having been received, the Chairman called
the meeting to order and directed the Superintendent to open and read the bids
which were as follows:

Whereas, this Board having under consideration bids a s submitted for t he construction.
of the Union Branch School and addition to theBon Air School, and
Whereas, it appears tha~ C.E.Nuckols, is the lowe~;t bidder on said construction, a!d
V~ereas, it also appears th;:t all bids are in excess of the monies allocated for
the construction of the said schools,
Now, T!~erefore, be it resolved on motion of Lewis H. Vaden, seconded by %'~.I{.Jonas~Jr.,
that the contracts for th~ construction of the Union Branch School and the additio9
to the Bon Air School be awarded to C.E'.~uckots at his combined bid of ~225,279.~0 a
Further, be it resolved that the Division Superintendent of Schools, be, and he
heraby is authorized to make application to the ¥irginiaState Board of Education
for a sufficient amount of ~oney from the State School Cons truction Fund to cover
the ad~itional costs of co~%struction of the Union Bric. ch, Bon Air, and Jahnke
Road Schools, as well as to pay for any architectural services rendered in
connection with said constriction, and
Be it further resolved that the Board of Super~isors of the County of Chesterfield
be requested to approve action o~ the School board in this matter.
