This day another public hearing was held on the proposed Zoning Ordinance for
Chesterfield County. Interested citizens appearing and entering into the
discussion of this Ordinance were: Mr. J. T. Moore, }~. A. T.Curtis, h'M. John
C. Harris, and Mr. Wm. 01d.
This day the Executive Secretary stated that he had a prospective purchaser for a
deep well pump now out of use owned by the County, and requested the instructions
of the Board in this matter. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion
of H. T. Goyne, the Executive Secretary is instructed to sell this pump for a
sum not less than $75.00.
There being insufficient amounts in certain budgetary accounts to take care
of certain bills for the fiscal year 1942-'43, the Executive Secretary requested
the transfer from the Unappropriated Surplus of the General Fund, sufficient
amounts to cover these accounts. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of
J. G. Hening, the Treasurer is hereby instructed to transfer from the Unappropria~
Surplus of the General Fund, to the following budgetary codifications the
following amounts:
Reproduction of Plats - 4a - 215
Police Travel - 6a - 220
Surveys, etc. -18 - 319

There being insufficient funds in the Dog Tax ~'und to take care of certain
outstanding bills, it is resolved on motion of J.G. Hening, that the Treasurer
be, and he hereby is requested to transfer from the unappropriated surplus of the
Dog Tax Fund, the following amounts to certain budgetary codifications:

Livestock Claims -12-502

There being insufficient funds in the Ettrick Sanitary District Operating Fund
to take care of certain bills, it is resolved on motion of J. G. Hening, that the
Treasurer be and he hereby is requested to transfer from the unappropriated
surplus of the Ettrick Sanitary District Fund, the following a~ounts to accounts
as set forth:

Purchase of ~ater - 10d-324

This day a Committee previously appointed to consider the advisability of the
County of Chesterfield accepting from the Federal Office of Civilian Defense
certaih fire fighting equipment for protection to certain localities in
Chesterfield CoUnty reported that it deemed it wise to accept such equipment,
and the Executive Secretary be appointed as the Property Officer to be responsibl
for the same. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of R. T.Goyne,
it is resolved that the Board of Supervisors accept from the Federal 0.C.D. such
fire fighting equipment as they deem necessary for Chesterfield County.
And be it further resolved t~m t W. H. Caldwell, Executive Secretary, be and he
hereby is appointed by the Board as Property Officer to receive the same.
And be it further resolved that the Executive Secretary be instructed to secure
the necessary bond required by the Federal 0.C.D. for the Property Officer in
this matter.

This day the matter of the insufficiency of the ~as rationing for essential driving
and the effect thereof on the working people in e~sential industries, came to ~
the attention of this Board, and it appearing that the Rationing Board of Chester-
field County is without authority to increase the allotment of gas to such workers
and that it will cause the loss of from one to fifteen days of work during the
rationing period, and that it will seriously affect the production in essential
war manufacture, as well as the living standard of the worker, thero being no
adequate public transportation in the County. Upon consideration whereof,
end on motion of W. a. Homer, duly seconded, it is resolveG that the Hon. Prentiss
R. Brown, O.P.A. Administrator, Washington, D.C., be and he hereby is respectfully
requested to correct theft fallacy in reducing the amount o~ gas allocation for
essential driving and that he Permit the Local Rationing Board to increase the
allotment of gas so that the workers in essential industries may regularly and
fully work in such industries.
