Chalkley, Chairman J.G. Honing L. T.Goyne -.A Horner T. L.;,atkins P. W. Covington This day the Board of Supervisors was celled tc order by W. t~. Caldwell, Executive Secretary, who stated that an organization of the Boerd was necessary because cf the beginning of a ne~ term of office. ;,hereupon, Mr. J. C. Honing, very graciously nominated ~r. H. L.Chalkley, former Chairman of the Bo~rd for the en- suing term. By unamimous vote Mr. E. L. Chalkley was elected Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for the ensuing term. T Ccyne, stated t~t it had bea~, very forcibly brought to his attention that th~ school system of the otate of Virginia w.~s not adequately financed either es to the payment of t.~achers or in broadness of curriculum, and state~ that he felt that some improw~ment should be mane by theState Legislature in this condition. Upon consideration u'hereof, c~nd on motion of R. T. Ooyne, it is resolved that the Commonv:ealth's ~,ttorney b~ and he hereby is requested to v~rite a letter to the representatives of Chesterfield County in the Stste Legislat~ requesting that adequate funas for the educational sFstem for the ~tate of Virginia be supplies either from afditional taxes of the unapFropriated surplus of the General Fund of the State of Virginia to enable the School ~ystem of the St~ of Virginia to be improved so that it will not rank in the lov;er group of States i: E~ucationsl system. This day the ~.~ccutive Secretary read a letta~ from D.Edgar ~eod, Chairman of the Ettrick Sanitary District GoFm~[ttee, requesting that R. Leslie Eanes be appointed to succeed the late L. B. Pond. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P. ;,. govington, it is resolved that this request be approved and that R. Leslie Eanes be appointed to the Attrick Sanitary ~istrict Committee.
