This day, Mr. M.A.Oogbill, Commonwealth's Attorney, subn~itted to the Board his report of expenses incurred in the operation and maintenance of his office for the month of October, 1944, in the amount of$488i$~., of which the County has paid one- half or $E44'16, the remainder to be paid by the State, and the Board approvi, ng the same the report is filed. Genera 1 Fun, # . # and the report is filed. The ExecutiveSecretary read a report from theForest Fire Warden concerning activities for the month of October, 1944, which report is received and filed. This day again the matter of abandoning those parts of State Routes Nos. 609 and 641, lying within the area of the Richmond Holding and Reconsignment Point Depot came before this Board, and it appearing from the notices, petition, reports and evidence heretofore before this Boar~, that the abandoning of such portions of said routes, except that portion of Routes ~609 which is actually and physicalli~ a portion of Route ~160~, will not greatly inconvenience the public since this ~d has determined not to abandon and .close Routes ~160~ and 1606 in said are~, as set out in this 'Board's order of 9ctober 10, 1944. G. Honing, it is resolved that the minutes of this Board of October 10, 1944, relative to the closing of Routes ~$09, ~41, 160E and 1606, in the area of the Richmond Holding and Reconsignment Point Depot, be, and the Same are ordered to be ccrreoeed by deleting words "a reasonable time" and inserting in lieu thereof, #six months" as was used ~ th resolution originally offered. A~d further, in ~he Sesolution in reference to theappearance of a 0omm~tttee the Chesterfield ~air AssOciation wherein the name of the Committee was the name of J.B.Watkins, Jr., was omitted, and Whereas, further in the resolution concerning the handling of delinquent taxes by j.Wm. Dance, Treasurer of Chesterfield 0curry, in the last paragrap~ of said resolution the word "space' was drafted into the resolution and words "and Commissioner of Revenue" were included in the resolution, whic'h was in error. And be it further resolved in the motion herein referred to the draft of the resolution be corrected, by placing the name of J.B.Wat~nS, ~r., in said resolution draft. And be it further resolved on motion, in that resolution concerning the handling of delinquent taxes by the Treasurer of Chesterfield County, that the last paragraph of said resolution be corrected by deleting the word 'spar'e" and substitut~ng in lieu thereof the. w~rd "help' and deleting~the words' and Commissioner of Revenue'. And bait further resolved, that the minutes of this Board of October 10, 1944: be, and the same are now approved. This day the Game ~arden, Mr.A.J.Rorner, stated to the Board that his expenses were considerably higher than he had anticipated, and requested that an additions $20.00 per month be .given him to assist in defraying the~e additional expenses, Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyns, it is resolved that' an' additional $20.00 per month be paid to the Game Warden to assist him in defraying the expenses ncessary in the conducting of his work, elf ctive as of November 1, 1944' And be it l~rther resolved that the sum of $160.00 be and it hereby is appro] from the unappropriated surplus of the Dog Tax Fund tothe budgetary code 1: Expenses of Game Warden. This day ~ev. W.C.Shawen and Rev. A.B.Montgomery inquired as to what disposition had been made of a request previously made to the Board of Supervisors concerning a Community Service Program in Chesterfield County, urging that this matter be given very-careful consideration and an early decision be reached if possible. There also appeared Mr. F. K. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyna, it is resolved that the Planning Com~ttee now consisting of Mr. T. D.Watkins and Mr.H.T.Goyne, be increased by. the addition of Mr. A. A. Hornet and the matter of the Oommunity Service Progra~ be referred to this Co~m_m~ttee. This day a petition was received from residents of the Matoaca District, requesting that the Board take into the County Road System and improve a road from the Woodpecker Road,Rt. 626, east of the Junction with Rt. 659, ex~ending to the Burgess property and also presented a deed to the right-of-way for such - road from M.J.Elko and Mmry A. Elko. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P. ~.Covington, it is resolved that ~his road be taken into the Road S~stem. And be it further resolved that the Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested to improve this road, expending a sum not to exceed $500.00, charging same to the 3ct. road le~y. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. H. L.Dunton,State Supervisor, Emergency Farm La~or, expressing their appreciation to the Board of Supervisors for the leave of absence granted Miss Nancy Tyree, Home Demonstration ~gent, who had been aSsisting in the Emergency Farm Labor Program, and the letter is received and filed. This day the ExecutiveSecretary submitted to the Board a report on the allocation of constr~ction funds for the fiscal year i~AA-'AO, which was received and filed. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mfs.Randolph Maynard, Secretary, of the Richmond Society, for the Prevention of Cruelty to ~nimals, requesting an appropriation from the County of Chesterfield to assist in defraying expenses for work rendered by the Society to the County. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H. T. Goyne, it is resolved that this request be and it hereby is denied. This day the Executive Secretary read to the Board a statement of receipts and expenses for the year ended December ~l, 1~3, of the Clerk's Office of Chesterrield CounSy, which was ordered received and filed and a synopsis of same be published according to law. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. T. D.~aMaons, A~sst. Genera$ Manager, of the Seaboard Air Line Railway, relative to the prevention of accidents, etc. at grade crossing,s. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of PS W. Covington, it is resolved that this matter be referred to the Department of Highmays. This day the Executive Secretary reported that An accordance with instructions a previous meetin~ he had made a preliminary estimate on the installation of lavatory in the building now occuppied by the ~ricultural ~partment, and stated in his Judgment the work could be completed for a sum not exceeding $900.00 UPon consideration whereof, and on motion of W. A. Horner, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instructed to proceed with the work as ~, soon,:as possible.
