this Board to give his and his mother's permi~sion to designate the proposed clinic
building as the "Thomas F. Jeffress Memorial" was read and the permission granted in
said letter is noted - the letter being in the following 'rords, to-wit:-
\r
"~ mother and I have considered carefUlly ,the gracious
resolution at your Board in which you request us to grant
permission to you to designate the proposed clinic ~nd
other buildings to be built at Camp Baker as the "Thomas F.
JeffresaMemorial", or other designation which ~y be
desired or approved by us.
You will remember in the letter outlining the sponsor-
ship of the work we made clear that the sponsorship was as
a memorial to my father, but no suggestion was made that
the clinic or other buildings be named as a memorial to him.
My own belief is that my father would have questioned the
propriety of our making such a suggestion where only about
one-third Of the total cost of the improvements was given
in his memory.
We feel, however, that the suggestion which now comes from'
the Board upon their own motion is in recognition of his
long services to the County, as well as out of affection for
him.
We, therefore, wish to express our deep appreciation of
this action by the Board and gladly consent to the same."
