Vlhereas, the Government of the United States of America, has, in its
widsom, seen fit to call all men between the ages of 21 and 36 to a year's
military training for the purpose of defense of the nation, and
'Vjhereas, the Government has caused to be set up a Selective Service
Board for the purpose of inducting such men into training for the purpose
aforesaid, and
\lhereas, among such lWn in Chest erfield County, Virginia, are KENNETH
LEON BOWLES andMASON THROWER WRENN, JR., who have volunteered to be inducted
into service rather than await their selection by the Selective Service Board,
, and thereby have become the first men from Chesterfield County to be inducted
into service. \
Now, Therefore, the Board of Supelvisors of Chesterfield County,'Virginia
~oth recognize such act on the part of KENNETH LEON BffinES AND llASON THROVffiR
WRENN, JR., to be one of patriotism and love of countDyand done for the purpose
of 'unselfishly rendering to the nation its due and doth resolve on ,motion of
H.T.Goyne, that KENNETH LEON BO\ILES and MASON THROV~ VtRENN, JR., be, and they
ar~ hereby publioly oommended for their action in volunteering for such service.
It is further resolved that a certified copy of this resolution be
d\~ivered to KENNEl'H LEON BO\'ILES and MASON THROWER WREN1r,JR.
It is resolved on motion of T. D. Watkins, that the Chairman appoint
the members of this Board and three representatives of the Amerioan Legion
Post No. of Midlothian, Virginia, to take charge of the ceremonies today
anq. to see that IGmNETH LEON BOWI..ES A1"D MASON THROViER V1RE1'll~, JR., the men who
ar~ to be induct~d into military service are properly escorted to the Cit~ of
RiQhmond,
