This day there was submitted to the Board a claim in the amount of $305.62 for
draining and cleaning the four (4) septic tanks at the Courthouse, the total
cubic footage being 1222* ft. And came also Iven Reed to substantiate and
pr~ce said claim. And the said Iven Reed agreeing to accept a rate of pay of
15cts. per cu. foot in lieu of 25ct. per cu. foot. Upon consideration whereof,
and on motion of P. W. Covington, it is resolved that the claim for draining I
and cleaning said septic tanks be and the same is hereby ordered paid in the amoun~
of '183.30.. I

This day again the matter of the extension of Second Street in Be11meade northward~Y
from the line of the School property and through the property of Mrs. L. G. Faisonl
came before the Board and on motion of W. A. Horner, the matter is referred to thei
Road Committee far further consideration.
This day the Executive Secretary called the attention of this Board to the fact
that the Manchester Sanitary Dis trict owned three trucks and that the same were
standing idle due to the failure of VlPA to provide labor. Upon consideration
whereof and on motion of 'Ii. .A. Horner, it is resolved that the Chairman pf this
Board be directed to appoint a Committee to appraise the trucks and make report
and reco1Ill1endation to this Board at the next meeting. Whereupon the Chairman I
appointed: H. T. Goyne, W. A. liorner and the Executive Secretary as such Committee~

This day the ~xecutive Secretary reported he had secured all necessary rights-of-
way on Rt. 1651, near Murchie's Mill; that the aggregate amount was $402.00, and
t~e.several amounts being agreed to by the following persons:

Upon consideration whereof and on motion of W. A. Horner, it is resolved that the r

amounts be and they are hereby ordered to be paid Upon delivery of properly
e~ecuted deeds for said r4"hts-of-way. i
T~is day the Executive Secretary made report to the Board of the findings of the
investigation of the telephone servioe at Ohesterfield Courthouse. On motion of
H, T. Goyne, the matter is referred to the Buildings and Grounds Committee for
its report and recommendation.
On motion of J. G. Hening, it is resolved that the last re solution of this Board :
authorizing the deepening of the well at Bel1.tl1eade School to an additional 100 feeit
be and the same is hereby rescinded. i
This day t.b.e attorney for the Comt'1onwealth read to the Board a letter from Hon. I
J. Edgar Hoover, of the .l!ederal Bureau of Investigation, Washington, requesting I
C. W. Smith, Chief of Police of this County to attend the National Police Academy I
in Washington for study on various methods of police duty in defense work. Upon I
consideration whereof, and on motion of h.T. Goyne, it is resolved that the sum I
of $50.00 be and the same is hereby appropriated to defray the expenses of the i
said C"W.Smith, Chief of Police in his attendance at this Slhool. I

This day complaint waB made to this Board concerning the condition of the crossi~
on Rt. 5611, at the Seaboard AF Line HR. Upon consideration whereof and on I
motion of W.a. Horner, the Chairman is requested to appoint a Committee to I
investigate the situation. v{~ reupon the Chairman appointed H. T. Goyne and !
the Executive Secretary as this Committee. I
