exoeed $450.00. stating that the ^tlantic Coaat~Line RR. Company would furnish
tt~ right of way and reimburse the County for the amount spent. Upon consider-

requestedto construct a road of approximately 650 feet in length to connect the

Upon consideration where and on motion of \/. A. Horner, it is resolved that the I
name of I'Ir.T. D. \iatkins, as a member of this Boardbe submitted to the Judge of !
Circuit Court for appointment to the Local Board of Public ',[e1fare as of July 1,
1942, replacing Mr. Bruce Fergusson whose ter,m expires at that time.
The Supt. of Pub1icrielfare, Mrs. Elizabeth Ii. Bagby. read before the Board a i
letter from the Supervisor of Co.runodit:ies Distribution, advisin[ that the servicesl
of the Commodities Clerk for Chesterfield County will have to be terminated as of 'I
June 20, 1942, and requested that he be retained for such period of time as ,
necessary Ejid be compensated by the :8oar(, of Supervisors. Upon consid.era tiion
whereof and on motion of vi. A;. Horner. the local Board of Public \lelfare is I
instructed to retain the services of the Co~odities Clerk for the County of ,
Chesterfield. to be employed on a balf-ti~" basis on a salary not to exceed I
~30.00 per month for a period of not more than three months, or such time as his I
services are necessary due to the receiving of surplus commodities. I
This day came. Mr.H~ G. Smith, interested in operating busses through Chesterfielll
County to Blackstone, Virginia, re~uesting the Board to sponsor such a Route.
Upon advice of the Commonwealth's 4ttorney it wau learned that the law enacted
by the recent session of the Virginia Assembly permitted Chesterfield County
to operate bus lines within the County and adjacent cities but making no provisio
for operating through adjacent counties, therefore. such operations as reCluested '
by Mr. &ith being beyond the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors, no action I
was taken. I

The Executive Secretary sGbmitted to the Board a bill from Dr. T. G. Pretlow for
the viewing and examination of the body of one Judd Tisdale, burned to death
near the Colonial Heifh ts trash dump. On motion of \1. A. Horner the bill is
ordered paid. '

The natter of bus routes within Chesterfield County for the accommodation of I
Chesterfield Citizens was discussed. and on motion of J. G. Hening, the Committee I
heretofore appointed was continued for further investigation of the situation.

This day the matt 61' of fuel bill for Camp Baker was brought before the Board, andl
it having been the understanding of this Board. that in granting free office space
to the Tuberculosis Association at Camp Baker that any excess fuel bill for
operating Camp Baker would be p aid for by the Tuberculosis Associ=e.tion.
The Executive Secretary reported that the bill for the past year amounted to
i82.18 more than the preceding year. Upon consideration whereof. and on motion
of Vi. A. Horner. it is resolved that a bill l' or ;jp75.00 be rendered the Tuberculos s
ASsociation for jxcessive fuel.
