COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR’S COMMENTS
The Virginia Law Enforcement Professional Standards Commission presented a

Mr. Ramsey announced his retirement effective on or about July 31, 2007.

BOARD REPORTS
Approved Directed staff to provide by April 30, 2007 a comprehensive report
relative to the cost of serving illegal immigrants.
WORK SESSIONS
A work session was held regarding the County Administrator’s FY2008 Proposed
Amended Budget including presentations from the Human Services Division and the
Social Services Board.
NEW BUSINESS
Approved Authorization to advertise tax rates, the proposed FY2008 Amended
Budget, proposed FY2008-FY2012 Capital Improvement Program,
proposed FY2008 Community Development Block Grant Program,
and other ordinance changes and set public hearings for March 28,
2007 beginning at 6:30 p.m. for the Board to consider these items.

consider appropriation of additional funds for the Department of
Social Services.
Approved Public hearing date of March 14, 2007 at 6:30 p.m. for the Board to

Watkins Centre Community Development Authority and proposed
amendment to the ordinance establishing a special assessment.

Approved Request from Jonathan Ragsdale, Phillip Johnson and Floyd Harvey,
Trustees of Crescent Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses to

Approved Request from Dennis P. and Bonnie C. McLaughlin for a proposed
wooden picket fence to encroach within an 8-foot drainage

Approved Appropriation of funds in FY2007 from the Virginia Mental Health,
Mental Retardation, and Substance Abuse Services Department for
the Chesterfield Community Services Board for additional funds for
the Regional Crisis Stabilization and Residential Treatment
Program.
Approved Naming of four Bird High School youth softball fields after Ms.
Mildred Burrell.
Approved Transfer of District Improvement Funds from the Matoaca District
Improvement Fund to the Parks and Recreation Department to
purchase equipment for a lacrosse program in the O.B. Gates
Elementary School district.

Approved License agreements with AT&T to install cable across county
property for the Hull Street Road Widening Project.

Report on Developer Water and Sewer Contracts; and a Status
Report on the General Fund Balance, Reserve for Future Capital
Projects, District Improvement Funds, and Lease Purchases.
CITIZEN COMMENT PERIOD ON UNSCHEDULED MATTERS
Mr. Alan Francario addressed the Board relative to increased county expenditures; the
impact of development along the Route 288 Corridor; and revisiting the proposal to
increase cash proffers.
CLOSED SESSION
A closed session was held pursuant to Section 2.2-3711(A)(1), Code of Virginia, 1950, as
amended, to discuss the performance of specific employees of the county in order to
evaluate their qualifications for appointment to a specific position by the Board.
6:30 P.M. SESSION
Reverend Linwood Carroll, Sr., Pastor, Amazing Grace World Fellowship, gave the
invocation.
Musical selections were provided by the Amazing Grace World Fellowship Choir.
Assistant County Administrator Marilyn Cole led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag of
the United States of America.
RESOLUTIONS AND SPECIAL RECOGNITIONS
Adopted Resolution recognizing CarMax for being named as one of the “100
Best Companies to Work For.”
Adopted Resolution recognizing the Sheraton Park South Hotel’s
accomplishments in earning the North American Guest Satisfaction
Index Challenge Cup for superior customer service.
