Burnett, Executive Secretary J Chesterfield Court House, Virginia "wrtw Gentlemen: The PAS report was officially presented to the governing bodies of the three jurisdictions at the March 20, 1959 meeting of the Regional Planning Commission. Realizing that this proposal, was of direct and vital con- cern to the governing officials, and only indirectly a regional planning matter, the Commission felt that it would like to receive instructions from the governing bodies before proceeding. motion was unanimously approved, therefore, which requested the representatives on the Commission from the governing bodies to obtain, before the next meeting, an expression from their respective governing bodies as to exactly what they wish the Commission to do further in connection with the PAS report, Interpreting this motion of the Commission and putting it in any own words, I think the Commission wanted to know: Would the governing bodies like a general reconunendation, a study of the detail features of the plan with specific recommendations, an implementation study, or do they feed, the co fission has compete its service by presenting the report? How can the Regional ional Planning Commission best serve the officials of the Area in this ratter? If I can be of service to you please call on me. The Stadium Co .ttee has examined the plans, as pre -w pared by LaPrade Brothers, and finds the over„all presentation to be in keeping with the progressive thinking which we would like to encourage in County Government. Chesterfield has long been in need of this type of fnc, ili.ty and it is the hope of this group that the County will proceed with the construction as soon as possible. x e are particularly interested In seeing that the "LittleLeague” and "PonyLeague" ball Melds receive primary consideration in the construction program. It is also our hope that these facilities will be fully lighted for might participation by the youth of chesterfi4eld { 'there is now operating approximately 20 Little League teams playing }18 to 20 games each and 8 Pony League teams playing approximately y 20 games each. McKesson, President OHESTERFIELD FARM BUREAU Route 11, Box 1A Richmond, Virginia April 13, 1959 M. W. Burnett Executive Secretary Board of Supervisors Chesterfield, Virginia ]dear Mr. Burnett i APR 1959 RECEIVED I rte'— ROW of sw[hvgs a The Board of Directors of the Chesterfield Farm Bureau at a recent meeting discussed in detail the matter of the Virginia fire or brush burning law that now becomes effective in March. Prior to consideration of this matter our Board had re- ceived comments from various volunteer fire departments to the effect that the burning of brush and trash by County citizens was resulting in numerous nuisance calls to the de-, partments to extinguish the relatively small blazes. In Griew of the problem as presented to our Board and the discussions thatt we have had we believe that there is now a. feeling developing among some of our volunteer fire groups that paid firemen should be employed by the county. It is en- tirely - tire .y passible that the Large' number of nuisance calls being answered by the firemen i s leading t owarthis thinking, The Farm Bureau Board of Directors do not now believe that the county can afford the additional expense of paid firemen in the county budget. Therefore we respectfully request that the Board of Supervisors consider tie possibility of the following: 1. Contact all county volunteer fire department and re- quest comments concerning this matter. 2. Passage of a county ordinance a tond.ing the present Spring time 4 p.m. brush burning law to require a. year round application in -Chesterfield County. Very sincerely yours, r Go .
