Dear Mr. Stone:
We have received a copy of Mr. Kane's letter of February 12, 1959,
in which he proposes a reduction of $960.00 in his bid for heating and
ventilating on the above job. Mr. Simmons and the undersigned went
over Mr. Kane's cost figures and found them all to be very reasonable.
The items Mr. Kane lists in his letter as not being under his contract
were either not intended to be his responsibility by the specifications
or they were items which could be done much more cheaply by another
trade. He should, however, do all cutting required for passage of his
piping.
We do not feel it is necessary to have any new concrete work adjacent
to the pit, which Mr, Kane refers to as a tunnel. The $175,00 allowance
he speaks of is for getting the motorized valve in operable condition.
We believe, also, that the present thermostat can be reused,
Very truly yours,
E. TUCKER CARLTON, A.LA.

Gentlemen:
We discussed the subject matter with the Architect and
Engineer and have reached the following conclusion:
A - All cutting and patching is to be done by others.
BAll demolition and removal of existing piping
through and above floor is to be done by others.
C- All piping and equipment in pit is to be
removed by Kane.
D All piping from pit to point of new risers is
to be removed by Kane--balance to be abandoned.
E - Power roof ventillator curb and setting is to
be furnished by others. Template and bolts
are to be furnished by Kane.
F - Exhaust Fan opening in ceiling is to be
furnished by others.
G - Due to the other trades involved, it works a
hardship on us in establishing a completion
date. Carpentry, wiring, painting of walls
in back of radiation, prime coating for the
radia tion, etc.
In consideration of the above and items listed below,
we offer you the deduction of $960.00 from our proposal
of February 10, 1959 which reduces our proposal to the
sum of $4259.00.

Dear Mr. Burnett:
Confirming our telephone conversation

Dear Mr. Burnett:
As your Board of SUpervis ors plans the 1959-60 budget We hope
they will surely include an appropriation for Crippled Chil-
dren's Hospital. The attached list of children from your
County have been our patients during 1957 and 1958. The nUlll-
ber of tll3ir hospital days will give you some idea of the ex-
tent of our Hospital's share in a responsibility which might
otherwise rest rather heaviJ.;v upon your County's taxpayers.
It has been our privilege to care for these handicapped chil-
dren and thus to help thE!ll on the way to health and indepen-
dence. The e nclos ed leaflet will give you some further FACTS
about the onJ.;v free hospital operated eXclusively for the trea.-
ment of Virginia's crippled and deformed children.
We feel sure that your Board will wish to send an appropriation
for the 1958-59 .fiscal year between now and June 30th, and that
if it is at all possible ChesteI'field County will join other
Virginia counties in this mos t important work for our children.
We are most grateful for your help in the past.
With every good wiSl for 1959, I am
VKG:me

Gentlemen:
'As you have no doubt read in the newspapers; there
have been several meetings held in regards to creating Mosquito
Control Districts in the metropolitan areas of Petersburg, Colo-
nial Heights' and Hppewell including sections of the counties of
Dinwiddie, Prince George and Chesterfield.
It is respectfully requested that your honorable
body appoint two representatives to a central Mosquito Control
Committee for the purpose of formulating a proposal whiCh will
outline the part which each political subdivision'will play. It
is understood that this will be a study committee, and it in no
way obligates the county or city. It is hoped that you can make
your appointments so that the representatives can attend a meet"-
ing at the Post Surgeon's Office, U. S. Afmy'Hospital, Fort Lee,
Virginia, on February 26, 1959, at 1:00 P. H.
