Mr. O'Neill called the meeting to order at the Icarus Restaurant
at 12:00 noon (EST).
Mr. E. L. Covington, Jr., Resident Engineer for the Virginia
Department of Highways and Transportation, was present and
discussed road matters with the Board.
The Board generally agreed to reserve 15% of the Revenue Sharing
Funds for the County secondary road system, to purchase
approximately 27.64 acres of the Seaboard Coastline Railroad
right-of-way from Route 10 north to Chester Road for approximately
$55,250, and decided to use rural road funds for the Turner
and Belmont Road project in Clover Hill District. Mr. O'Neill
presented a proposal by which existing roads in the County could
be resurfaced without doing additional work such as drainage
improvements or road widening.
Mr. Phillip Hester discussed priorities and procedures for
implementing the Parks and Recreation Capital Improvement Program
to be funded by the bond ~unds approved in November, 1978.
On motion of Mr. Dodd, seconded by Mr. Bookman, the Board
adjourned at 4:35 p.m.
