WORK B~SION ON THEPROPOSEDCOUNTYC~/~R <br /> <br />Mr. Dodd called the work session on the proposed County Char~er <br />to order at the Courthouse at 2:00 p.m. (EDST]. <br /> <br />Mr. Daniel briefly explained the process by which the County had <br />arrived at its consideration of the proposed charter. Be stated <br />the Board's desire to obtain public participation and <br />involvement in the preparation of the proposed charter resulted <br />in the selection Of a fifteen (15) member comraittee. He stated <br />the Charter Conmmittee met many times in their endeavor to devise <br />a preposed charter that would serve to organize ~he governmental <br />structure of Chesterfield County and, hopefully, benefit all its <br />citizens. He stated there have been ~hree (3) public hearings <br />regarding the proposed charter as the Board has made every <br />effort to bring the issues to the attention of the public. He <br />stated that through the discussion and public hearing process <br />the concept of a city charter evolved. <br /> <br />With respect to concerns regarding a city charter, there was a <br />brief discussion of the legal steps required to become <br />incorporated into a city. <br /> <br />86-593 <br /> <br /> <br />
