Dear Mr. Meiszer:
The Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, Virginia is pleased to tender you this
formal offer of their position of County Administrator subject to the following details
and conditions:
1. The starting salary will be $431000.00 per year with an annual salary review
based on your date of entry on the job.
2. The provision of a County -owned and maintained automobile for use according
to your judgment and discretion on business related to your position and rela-
tionship with the County.
3. The provision of all fringe benefits accorded to other full-time permanent
employees of the County as detailed on the attached sheet and as may be
revised in the future.
4. The provision of funds and time off to attend conferences of your professional
associations and training sessions which you believe to be of value to your
work with the County.
5. Moving expenses of up to $3,000.00 to cover costs involved in the transfer
of your household goods from Forsyth County, North Carolina to Chesterfield
County, Virginia, including overnight lodging, meals and travel en route.
The Board requests that you obtain three bids from drayage companies and
advise them of the lowest responsible bidder. They will then advise the company
selected to bill Chesterfield County directly for the move. For other allowable
expenses, the County will reimburse upon submission of receipts.
6. The provision of 3 months severance pay should your employment be terminated
by the Board of Supervisors. The Board requests at least 30 days notice should
you decide to resign your position with Chesterfield County.

7. The Board requests that you begin your duties with the County on or about
July 15, 1977. There will be no difficulty in your attending the NACo
Conference in Michigan scheduled for July 24-27, 1977.
8. The Board of Supervisors has provided a deferred compensation program for
County employees which you may decide to join. Should you prefer ICMA-
RC, there would be no problem in joining that. You would need to determine
what portion of your annual salary you would like to defer. Details can be
dealt with at an appropriate time.
The foregoing includes the complete offer by the Board of Supervisors. Should any
point need clarification or if there are any other issues which you would like to
raise, please advise. Otherwise, we would like to have a letter from you formally
accepting the offer which we will then forward to the Chairman of the Board of
Supervisors.
It has been our privilege to work with the County during this engagement and we
extend our sincere congratulations to you on your success in this highly competitive
executive search efforts. You have our best wishes for a long and successful rela-
tionship with the Board of Supervisors and the citizens of Chesterfield County,
Virginia.
