Admin. <br /> <br />Mrs. Girone opens the meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Falwell introduces Mr. Lewis Knapp who presents the final report of Cresap, <br />McCormick and Paget of the study of the County's Police Department. Mr. Knapp . <br /> <br />VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br />Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield <br />County, held at the Courthouse on March 4,1 <br />1976, at 1:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Lee Falwell, Asst. Co. Admin. <br />Mr. C. G. Manuel, Asst. Co. Admin. <br />Mr. Morris Mason, County Attorney <br />Col. Joseph Pittman, Chief of Police <br />Maj. C. E. Ritcher, Deputy Chief <br />Mr. Michael Ritz, County Planner <br />Lt. John Simmons, Commander of Services DIN!. <br /> <br />emphasizes that the .County's rapid growth will demand a force of 250-27S police <br />officers within 10 to 15 years, that the County has a sense of momentum'built up, <br />however, the Police Department is still playing catch-up, that the Police Depart- <br />ment will grow so fast that pFomotions, training and recruitment will be problems <br />and that additional quarters will be necessary in the years to come. <br /> <br />Mr. Knapp answers questions from the Board for approximately one hour. At the <br />Conclusion. Mr. O'Neill thanks Mr. Knapp on his approach in the handling of this <br />difficult assignment and compliments him on his expertise. Col. Pittman states <br />that he is plea~ed with the report and asks further direction from the Board as <br />to the implementation of the report It is generally concluded that much of this <br />would be accomplished at the budget hearing. <br /> <br />Mr. O'Neill appoints Mr. Myers and Mr. Bookman as the Fire Committee of the Board.ii <br /> <br />Mr. Ritz pres:ents to the Board the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission'~ <br />request for appointments to the Citizens' Involvement Committee and states that <br />it is a very important Committee dealing with recommendations on practically everyli <br />phase of Metropolitan activity. Upon consideration whereof, it is on motion of <br />Mr. Myers, seconded by Mrs. Girone, resolved that Mr. Ritz, Mr. Zook, Mr. Fatwell,ii <br />and <br /> Mr. <br /> Burnett, be and they hereby are appointed as alternates to serve on the <br />Citizens' Involvement Committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Bookman, seconded by Mr. Myers, it is resolved that this Board <br />adjourns at 3:45 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on March 8, 1976. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mr. O'Neill, Mrs. Girone, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers. <br /> <br />Mr. W.'
