<br />The Vice-Chairman calls the meeting to order.
<br />
<br />Mr. Apperson gives the invocation.
<br />
<br />On motion of Mr. Bookman, seconded by Mrs. Girone, it is resolved that the minutes
<br />of July 8th, 14th, 15th and 22nd be and they hereby are approved as amended.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Mr. O'Neill, Mrs Girone, Mr. Apperson, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers.
<br />
<br />Mr. W. W. Scott is present and states that he will give an easement for the
<br />sewer line going on his property at 15919 Harrowgate Road if the County will
<br />connect him to the line. After much discussion of this matter, it is on motion
<br />of Mr. O'Neill, seconded by Mr. Bookman, resolved that the Engineering Depart-
<br />ment be authorized to waive the tap fee if Mr. Scott gives the County the
<br />necessary easement for the construction of this sewer line.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Mr. O'neill, Mrs. Girone, Mr. Apperson, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers.
<br />
<br />On motion of Mr. Apperson, seconded by Mrs. Girone, it is resolved that this
<br />Board go into Executive Session to discuss personnel and contractual matters.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Mr. O'Neill, Mrs. Girone, Mr. Apperson, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers.
<br />Reconvening:
<br />
<br />Mr. O'Neill presents Mr. Burnett with a gift from the Board in appreciation for
<br />his hard work and dedication to the County for the past 27 years Mr. Burnett
<br />accepts the gift and thanks the Board for same.
<br />
<br />On motion of the entire Board, it is resolved that the following resolution be
<br />and it hereby is adopted:
<br />
<br /> Whereas, Melvin W. Burnett has distinguished himself by twenty-eight years of
<br />faithful service to Chesterfield County; and
<br />
<br /> Whereas, his administration has been characterized by fiscally conservative,
<br />yet progressive service to ~e people of this County; and
<br />
<br /> Whereas, largely through his efforts, Chesterfield ranks as one of the best
<br />administered counties in the United States; and
<br />
<br /> Whereas, it is the desire of the Board of Supervisors to commemorate the
<br />service of Melvin W. Burnett to future generations of citizens of Chesterfield
<br />County.
<br />
<br /> Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved: That this Borad of Supervisors hereby
<br />designates the main administration building to be constructed in the new County
<br />Offices Complex as the Melvin W. Burnett Building, said building to be appropria't
<br />dedicated as such upon completion of its construction.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Mr. O'Neill, Mrs. Girone, Mr. Apperson, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers.
<br />
<br />On motion of the entire Board, it is resolved that Mr. Lee O. Falwell be and he
<br />hereby is appointed County Administrator.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Mr. O'Neill, Mrs. Girone, Mr. Apperson, Mr. Bookman and Mr. Myers.
