VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br />Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County, <br />held at the Court House on August 4, 1959, <br />at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Irvin G.Horner, Chairman <br />Mr. H; T. Goyne <br />Mr. R.J.Britton <br />Mt. Stanley R.Hague, Jr. <br />~. H.K.Hagerman <br />~. Marshall F. Driski!l <br /> <br />This day Mr. T. H.~iest request's, in writing, a variance to allow the constr'uction <br />of a dwelling on Lot 2, in Garland Heights, said lot facing Downland [~oad~ the <br />house to be located so that it would encroach 13 feet on the building setback <br />line from the cul de sac. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mt. Hague, <br />seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolved that this Board grant the request of [~.~ir.T.H. <br />~4est to allow the construction of s home on Lot 2, Garland l'[eights, <br /> <br />On motion of ~,~r. Britton,seconded by Mr.Driskill, it is resolved that Pir.7?.E.Gill be <br />allowed to construct one house on the eastern half of the reserved area, lying <br />southwar'dly from Patsy Ann Drive in Cedar Farms. <br /> <br />T~is day the Executive Secretary pointed out to the Board that ~Ioodmere Drive in <br />l~']ichael Heights should be extended in some fashion to Rt. 2301, so that a better <br />entrance way could be obtained for the subdivision of ~shburn Manor. and that the <br />Ricbffaond City Planning Commission and the F.H.A. had requested that consideration <br />be given to this condi2ion. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of <br />Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved theft this Board would agree to <br />condemn sufficient property for the extension~of ?foodmere Drive, provided developers <br />and interested citizens would pay the entire cost of condemnation. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by [dr. Driskil!, it is resolved that the Executive <br />Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to write a ldtter requesting the ad.aitional <br />right of way for the widening of Rt;?5~, running southwardl~ from Jahnke <br /> <br />This day the County 2cad Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board <br />made repor't in writing upon his examination of Gilling Road, Melback ;Icad and <br />Garthdale l~oad in the subdivision of Rock Springs Farms,Section B, in Dale <br />~.~gisterial District, which shows that in the opinion of the County ~oad F~ngineer <br />it is expedient that said roads be established as public roads. Upon considera- <br />tion whereof, and on motion of ~,~m.Hague, it is resolve,fi that Gil!ing Road, ~'[elbeck Road, <br />and Garthdale Road, in the subdivision of Rock Springs Farms,Section B, Dale District, <br />be, and rye same are hereby established as public roads. And be it further re- <br />solved, that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested, to <br />take into theSecondary Road System, Gilling Road, from a point on Rock Spring <br />Drive, .05 of a mile west of Darlington Road, .2/+ of a mi..].e westward!y to Melbeck <br />Road, thence .05 of a mile westwardly to a dead end; l~![elbeck £~oad, from a point <br />on Gilling Roa¢t .24 of a mile west of Rock Spring Drive,.~2 of a mile northwardly <br />to Garthedale Road; Garthdale Road, from the intersection with Ilock Spring Drive, <br />.12 of a mile w estwardly to [~,elbeck Road. These roads serve 9 houses. <br />And be it further resolved, that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County <br />guarantees a right of way of not less than 50 feet to the ~irgin~.a Department of <br />Highways for these roads. <br />Dedication of said rights of way recorded in Plat Book 10, Pages 1 and 2, Chester- <br />field Court House, Virginia. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by I~r.Driskill, it is resolved that the County <br />Engineer be and he hereby is requested to install a fire hydrant for the use of <br />the new Southampton Elementary School. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by i~.Driskill, it is resolved that the following <br />standard water contracts be approved and the Chairman and Clerk of this Board <br />are authorized to sign said contracts: <br /> <br />West Lake Hills <br />Woodstock ttome & L~nd Corp. <br /> <br />~600.OO <br /> 5 ~0. O0 <br /> <br />On motion of Y~. iJriskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the <br />County Engineer be and he hereby is authorized to apply for Federal Aid to finance <br />the drawing of the necessary plans for Public Works in the County of Chesterfield. <br /> <br />On motion of I',ir. Britton, seconded by M~.Driskill, it is resolved that this Board <br />grant a variance to ~. John J. Lewis, subject to the approval c~the Building <br />~n.spector and County Health Department to allow the construction of a dwelling <br />on Ldts'51, 52, 53 and 5~,in Block F, Westover Gardens, said lots Ysving an <br />approximate area of 12,500 square feet. <br /> <br /> <br />
