VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br />Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County. <br />held at the Courthouse on May 29, 1958, at ~ <br />8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />Mr. Irvin G.Horner, Chairman <br />Mr. H. T. Goyne <br />~. R.J.Britton <br />Mr. Stanley R.Hague, Jr. <br />Mr. H.K.Hagerman <br />Mr. Marshall F.Driskill <br /> <br />On motion <br />approved: <br /> <br />of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr.Driskill, the following variances are <br /> <br /> 1. A variance to M~.~G.R. Barclay, 104 Montauk Drive, Cherokee Hills, <br /> to allow the construction of a garaKe within 7 feet of his rear <br /> lot line and 7 feet of his side lot line. The adjoining property <br /> owner consents to this variance. <br /> <br /> 2. A variance to Mr. William W. James, HMC, USN, to allow the <br /> adjustment of a building line between Lots 8 and 9, Block F, <br /> Section A, of Wilkinson Terrace, in a manner that will permit <br /> him to move his proposed dwelling to within 30 feet of the <br /> Sherman Court turn-around. <br /> It is here noted that Mr.J.M.Wilkinson, Subdivider, approved <br /> this change. <br /> <br /> 3. A variance to Mr.A.C. Green, operatin~ a~ Clinton ~onstruction <br /> Company, Inc., to allow the construction of a dwelling on Lot 3, <br /> Block E, Section A, of Woodmont Subdivision, the rear corners <br /> ~of which willnot be less than 17-1/2 feet from the side property <br /> line. <br /> It is here noted that the developers give their approval in writing. <br /> <br /> 4. A variance to Mr. A.S.Robertson, to allow the construction of a <br /> house on Lot 3, Block E, Windsorview Subdivision, to come within <br /> lO feet of the adjoining property line. <br /> It is here noted that the developers give their approval in writing. <br /> <br /> 5. A variance to ~4r. F.S.Fitzhugh, to 6onstruct a garage on Lot 6, <br /> ~Block E, Winduorview Subdivision, within l0 feet of the adjoining <br /> lot ~ine. <br />On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this <br />Board deny the request of Mr. G.K. Teachey, for the refund of $9.00 for a <br />building permit procured in February of 1956. <br /> <br />This dav Mr.J. Justin Moore, representing the Virginia Electric & Power <br />Company~ came before the Board requesting that no raise in Personal Property <br />would result in gross inequities to the Virginia Electric & P~er Company; <br />that such a tax would propose certain questions to the administration that <br />would be difficult to answer, and that the Virginia Electric & Power Company <br />now pays approximately 1~% of the taxes in the County and should not be <br />imposed on further. <br /> <br />Came also, Mr.S.T.Wagstaff, who pleaded for economy in the County Government <br />saying that wages were coming down. <br /> <br />Came also, Mr. W.N.Duncan who stated that his salary was less this y~ar than <br />last year. <br /> <br />This day the County budget for the year 1958-'~9 in the amount of $10,329,335.( <br />which w~s tentatively adopted on April 25, 1958, and uly advertised by <br />publication in the Richmond News Leader, a newspaper having general circulatioz <br />in Chesterfield County, for a pe~od of thirty (30) days preceding the date <br />of adoption thereof came up for consideration of this Board, and after <br />discussion and due consideration, upon motion of Mr.Dris~ill, seconded by Mr. <br />Britton, it is resolved that the Chesterfield County tentative budget <br />for the year 1958-'59, including all various departments of the County, be,~ <br />and the same is hereby aoproved and adopted as the budget for the year 1958-'5~ <br /> <br />Whereas, in ac~rdance with law of this Commonwealth, the proposal to fix <br />levies requ~ed by the budget for the year 1958-'59 has been made public, and <br /> <br />Whereas, this day was fi~ed for a public hearinE on same, and due notice <br />as required by law having been published that this matter would be considered <br />and acted upon, <br /> <br />Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, on motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. <br />Driskill, that the l~vy for Ger~ral County purposes (including the School <br />budget) on each $100.00 of assessed valuation on real and personal property <br />for the year 1958-'59, be, and the same is fixed as follows: All magisterial <br />districts, $2.40 real estate tax; $2.70 on Personal Property and rates for <br />machinery in all districts 50¢, per $100.O0 of assessed valuation. <br /> <br />There is hereby levied $1.00 capitation tax on all residents of the Cbmnty <br /> <br /> <br />
