O~ motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Er. Driskill, it is resolved ~that this
Beard grant a v~iance to Mr. Robert S. Nance to allow the construction of a
building 29 feet from Pawnee Road, which building is Dote constructed on Lot 4,
Block A, Section A, Plan of Stratford Hills.
This day ~r. Woodfin'presented a petition signed by some 200 citizens requestini
a right of way running from the Virginia Electric & Power Company's plant
eastwardly to a boat landing. On motion of Mr. Goyne, secor~ed by Mr. Hague,
it is resolved that a Committee be appointed to acquire the necessary right of
way, 50 fee~ if possible, so that the Highway Department and the-County can
improve said road. Whereupon, the Chairman appoints Mr. Goyne, Mr. Burnett
Mr. Lancaster, to serve on a Committee to acquire this right of way.
Mr. Temple of the Right of Way Division, of the Virginia Department of Highways,
came before the Board repc~ting that the right of way on the Granite Road and
on the Cherokee parallel read was being acquired, and that construction would
most likely start sometime this summer.
~his dam the Executive Secretary reported that there had been received and
would be filed with the Board's papers~llocations for the County of Chester-
field road system, both Primary and Secondary.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that this
Board accept the deed to additional right of way along the Lewis Road, leading
northwardly from Club Drive. And be it further resolved that said Lewis Road
be reque~ed to be taken in as a Rural Road. It is here noted that this Deed
is recorded in Deed Book 555 Page ~22 .
A letter was read from Mr.R.V.Lancaster, III, Resident Engir~ er, citing the fact
that ,School Children Loading" sizns along Cherokee Road could not b e erected by
the Highway Department and said signs would be illegal.
On motion of ~. Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Boarl
accept the deedsTM the ~iEht of way of a road leading from the western end of
Piney Lane to Rt.60, which deed was secured by the Chase Construction Company.
On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by ~r. Hague, it is resolved that this Board
request the Highway Department to improve drainage on Rt. 1620, on the vacant
land of J.H.Bro~ in Bermuda District, at a co~t not to exweed $60.00, said cost
to be paid from the 3¢ Road FUnd of the County.
On motion of Mr. Briton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the
following roads be taken into the Secondary System of roads:
Clarkson and Sunbury in the subdivision of McGuire ~anor
Roads in North Lake Hills
Starlight Avenue in IrvinEdale

This day the Executive Secretary reported that the firm of Et.Stuart Royer,
consulting engineers, had given a pric~ of $~75.00 to make adrainage survey
of certain areas in Bon Air and give preliminary plans for drairage. Upon
consideration whereof, and on motion of ~r.Driskill, seconded by Mr. Goyme; it is
resolved that this Board authorize the firm ofR~Stuart Royer & Associa~e~ te
make such a survey at a cost not to emceed $375.00.
On motion of R~r.Driskilll seconded by Mr. Goyne, it is resolve~ that this Board

This day again the matter of i~roving the bridge leading from Chesterfield
Comnty into Hopewell,alongRt~ ~l, camebefore the Beard. ~Upon consideration
where®f, and on motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mr. ~Driskill, it is resolved
that this Board request the Highway Department to study the bridge leading
from Chesterfield to Hopewell as to the safety of said bridge and the possibilit'
of improving this hazardous condition.
This day the ~atter of improving Halloway Avenue, in Matoaca, again came before
the Board, and it was generally agreed that the Highway would bear-one-third of
the cost, the County of Chesterfield Would bear one-third of the cost, if the
citizens of the area would bear one-third of the cost, provided said cost be
$1000.00 er less.
On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved that this Board
request the Highway Department to investigate the feasibility of installing a
signal light at the intersection of Warwick Road and Rt.~60, which light could b
~perated by a time clock driving rush hours.
On motion of Mr. GoMne, seconded by Mr. Hague, it is resolved t~hat this Board
pay to Mr. WilliamWilliams, 550 Old Centralia Road, $1.50 for three chickens
and $2.00 for eight"~chickens killed by dogs.
On motion of Mr.Goyne, seconded by ~r. Driskill, 'it is resolved that this Board
authorize the payment of game claims as amended.
On motion of ~r. Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Boar(
request the Game Wardens of the County to do 6o all in their power t~ see that
the owners of dogs causing damage in the County to pay for said damage.
This day the zoning request of 5~.W.S.Carnes, againcame'before the Board, said
request havin~ been deferred from the April 8th meeting, whihh zoning request
was for a Use Permit to construct multiple family houses on a parcel of land
frontin~ approximately 300 feet on both sides of Blythewood Drive, adjoining
the north line of Sequoyah Road in the Kenmore Ridge Subdivision, Manchester
District, and there appearing no one in favor of this request and several
~itizens in opposition to this request~ upon consideration whereof and on motion
of Mr.Britton, seconded'by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that said request be

This day the zoming request of Mr. C.E.Wyatt again came before the Board, having
been deferred from the March llth meeting, which request is for the rezoning
from Agriculture to Residential-2 and on which land a Use Permit Ze construct
multiple family dwellings on a pa~'cel of land in Manchester Magisterial District
containing 16.9 acres, lying ~e~ween the Southern RR. and the Powhite Creek,
lying due south of Granite Acres, and there appeared Mr. R.P.Sowers, representin
Mr.Wyatt, who requested the Board to ctonSe this matter for a period of four
months, to allow the further consideration of a possible sewerage treatment plan
to serve this land.

This day Mr. Foster Brinser, representinz the B&B Oil Company, came befor~ the
