<br />This day the County Road Engineer in accordance with directions from this Board
<br />made report in writing upon his ex~mination of Andros Road, Ludwig Road,
<br />Pierpont Road, Montague Road, and McDowell Road in. the subdivision of
<br />Worthington Farms, Manchester Magisterial District, which report shows that in
<br />the opinion of the County Road Engineer it is expedient that said roads be
<br />established as public roads.
<br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr.Britton, it is resolved that
<br />Andros Road, Ludwig Road, Pierpont Road, Montague Read and McDowell Road in
<br />the subdivision of Worthington Farms, Manchester District, be, and they are

<br />Thisday theExecutive Secretary presented a pe~tion~signed by 16 citizens
<br />residing on Jackson Street in She Sanitary District of'Ettrick, which pe~itioni
<br />reque~ed that the grade on Rt. 1137 be left unchanged. ~hereuponMr.
<br />Lancaster stated that he had investigated the situation and was~of the opiniom
<br />t~at no change would be required.
<br />
<br />This day there was read a letter from Mr.A.J.Mills concerning the draw bridge
<br />between C~esterfield County and the City of Hop,well which letter is filed wi~h
<br />the paoers of this Board.

<br />This day there was read a letter fr~m Mr. F.A.Davis, stating ~hat the Traffic
<br />Engineers would study the traffic hazards at the intersection ofRts. I and
<br />l0 when the Toll Road is opened.
<br />
<br />This day the Executive ~ecretary brought to the Board's attention that the
<br />Highway Department had ~efused to acquire the 160-foot right of way along
<br />the Atlantic Coast Line Ry. west of Rt. 10, and'south of Rt. 161, and that sai~
<br />land had been approved for subdivision purposes.
<br />
<br />This day Mr. Lancaster stated tha~ for ~he price of $250.00 the Highway would
<br />clean out or construct ,4~ a drainage ditch behind the 1300 Block E.
<br />50th Street, and lower certain culverts on 50th Street and Sunlight Avenue inith
<br />Eicinity of McUuire Civic Association Community Playground.
<br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr.
<br />Driskill it is resolved that the Highway Department be requested to construc$
<br />said ditch at a pric~ not to exceed $250.00 and charge same to the 35 Road ~
<br />Fund of the County.
<br />This day Mr. Lancaster state~ that he had investigated the drainage condition~
<br />in the ~aleigh Court area ant estimated that it would cost $1200.00 to clean !out
<br />the necessar~ drainage ditches in said are~ and it was generally a~reed tha~
<br />this matter would be investigated by Mr.Britton.
<br />
<br />This day Mr. Lancaster stated th~ ~he request for lights on the~Matoaca Bridge
<br />ha~ been investigated and that lights would cost spproximately $1000,00 each~i
<br />He stated that in the opinion of the Highway Department construction had proJ
<br />gressed toofar for the economical erection of said lights.
<br />
<br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion'of Mr. Hagerman, seconded by Mr.
<br />Driskill, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is
<br />authorized to request the Virginia Electric & Power Company to erect a
<br />street light at the Chesterfield end of the Matoaca Brid~e.
<br />
<br />On motion of M~.Britton, seconded by Er. Driskill, i6 is resolved that this
<br />request the Highway ~epartment to clean the ditches in Warwick Gardens at a
<br />price not to exceed $3~O.OO, said cost to be charged to the3$ Road Fund of tee
<br />County.
