VIRGINIA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br />Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield <br />County, held at the Court House on ~ <br />April 23, 1959, at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Pre se nt: <br /> <br />Mr. IrvinG.Hornet, Chairman <br />Nr. H. T.Goyne <br />Nr.R.J.Britton <br />Mr. Stanley R.Bague, Jr. <br />Mr. Marshall F.Driskill <br />Nr. H.K.Hagerman <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary displayed a plat of the County-owned land used <br />for dumping purposes, just east of Chester, and it was generally agreed that the <br />problems existing On said dump would be investigated further. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Goyne, seconded by Mt. Hague, it is resolved that the following <br />resolution be and it hereby is approved: <br /> <br />'FHEREAS, John W.Snead has been Judge of the County CouDt for <br />thirty-three years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John W.Snead is now being retired due to physical <br />disability; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chesterfield County Court has long been noted as a <br />bar of complete justice and highly respected by all; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, John W.Snead has given unstintingly of his time and <br />efforts to relieve the problems presented by the County Court <br />and Juvenile Domestic Relations Court; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREEORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board records its sincere <br />appreciation for the work accomplished by Judge Snead and wishes him <br />a happy and pleasant retirement. <br /> <br />It is gensrally agreed that the County Officer Magazine, of the National <br />Association of County Officials, be sent to Mr.H.T.Goyne and Mr. Marshall F. <br />Driskill. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Driskill, seconded by Mr. Britton, it is resolved that the <br />petition sent to this Board concerning the name of Brookwood Road be and it <br />hereby is received, and <br />Be it Further Resolved, that the County Engineer study this situation for a <br />possible solution to this problem. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr.Driskill, seconded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that this Board <br />authorize the Virginia Electric & Power Company to install the siren in <br />Wayland Subdivision, provided the installation charges are paid by the Bon Air <br />Fire Department; and <br />It is Further Resolved, that the monthly electric bill be sent to the County of <br />Chesterfield. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr. Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the <br />Treasurer of the County be and he hereby is reques%edtOo transfer the sum of <br />$20~000.00 to the 3¢ Road Fund , which amount is in accordance with the budget <br />for the year 1958-'59. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr.Britton, seconded by Mr. Driskill, it is resolved that the sum <br />of $12,O00.00 from the Manchester District portion of the 3¢ Eund be allocated <br />to the hard-surfacing of subdivision streets in the Manchester area, and that <br />the Supervisor of said Distrift and the ExecutiveSecretary be authorized to <br />submit a list of streets to the Highway Department for hard-surfacing. <br /> <br />On motion of Mr.Driskill, secknded by Mr.Britton, it is resolved that the sum <br />of ~6,O00.O0 from the ~idlothian portion of the 3¢ Road Fund be allocated <br />to the hard-surfacinz of subdivision streets in the Midlothian area, and that <br />the Supervisor of said District and the Executive Secretary be authorized to <br />submit a list of streets to the Highway Department for hard-surfacing. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Buildings and Grounds Co~nittee has previously been <br />directed by this Board to study the Chesterfield Locker Plant as to its <br />possible use by the County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Sam Mayo, Architect, and others have inspected said building <br />and advised the Buildings and Grounds Committee of its net worth; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board has been polle~ as to the limit the Buildings and <br />Grounds Committee could offer for the locker plant at an Auction sale, and <br /> <br /> <br />
