D .Watkin s <br />P.W.Covington <br /> <br />VI~GINIA: At a meeting of the Board of <br /> Supervisors of Chesterfield County, <br /> held at the Courthouse on December <br /> 17, 1947, at 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />This day Mr.Fred R.Shepherd appeared before the Board regarding the proposed <br />annexation of a territory of Chesterfield County by Colonial Heights, stating that <br />he felt that it was necessary to annex this territory in order to control the <br />water shed and the area around the filter plant now being erected by Colonial <br />Heights. Since the Ordinance of the Town of Colonial Heights for the annexation <br />of this area had not been presented to the Judge, no action could b e taken Ny the <br />Board of Supervisors and it was felt that this type of cooperate meeting was very <br />~essential to an annexation meeting. No ~ tion was taken. <br /> <br />This day Mr.A.M.Toler appeared before the Board and presented a report of the <br />audit of the Utilities Department and informed the Board that in his judgment it <br />showed a very good picture for future operations of the Department, which report <br />was received and filed. <br /> <br />This day Mr~.Chas. Willis of Scott, Homer and Mason, Inc., Bond Buyers, appeared <br />before the Boar~ and requested a clarification of the callable features of the <br />bonds recently agreed to be purchased by them. Upon consideration whereof, <br />and on motion of T.D.Watkins, it is resolved that none of the bonds be callable <br />fora period of ten years and at the expiration of ten years all unpaid bonds <br />be callable in inverse order with a sixty d ay notice of intent to retire the <br />same given to the last known hold, rs of the bonds or by legal publication previous <br />to any interest period. <br /> <br />This d ay the Executive Secretary presented to the Board a report from the <br />Sanitary District Committee of Ettrick, stating that they had received a request <br />from a group of ~ttrick Citizens for permission to use the Ettrick Town Hall for <br />a temporary quarters for religious services, s taring that the Sanitary District <br />Committee recommended to the Bm rd that this permission be granted if possible. <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P.W. Covington, it is ~esolved that th <br />Board of Supervisors graut the request of the Ettrick Sanitary District Committee <br />and grant permission to the aforesaid group of citizens of Ettrick t o hold religio% <br />servicas in the Tovm Hall, making no charge for the same, provided that if any <br />janitor services are needed before or after themeetdngs they be provided by the <br />citizens. <br /> <br />This day the Board of Supervisors which had been appointed as a Committee to <br />investigate applicants for the position of Chief of Police of Chesterfield County, <br />interviewed the applicants for the same and there appared the following applicants <br /> <br /> Mr. Carlisle Johnstone <br /> Mr. W. B. Longest <br /> Mr. R.C.Gaunce <br /> Mr. Robert King <br /> Mr. W.E.Koch <br /> Mr. D. W. Ch. airman [~.. <br /> <br />This day Mr.P.Rixey Jones, County Farm Agent, appeared before the Board stating <br />th~ there had been some question as to the accounts of the lime spreading <br />project operated tSrough the County agents office and requested that the Board <br />appoint a Committee to review the accounts for the Board. Upon consideration <br />whereof, and on motion of W.A.Horner, it is resolved that the Executive Secretary <br />be and he hereby is appointed as a Committee to examine the records of the accounts <br />of the lime spreading project in the Farm Agent's office and report at the next <br />meeting of the Board. <br /> <br /> <br />
