VIRGI?~IA: At an adjourned meeting of the <br /> Board of Supervisors of Chester- <br /> field County, held at the Courth¢ <br /> on October 5, 19~8, at 8:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Present: <br /> <br />J. G. Hening, Chairman <br />H. T. Goyne <br />James W. Gordon, Jr. <br />Irvin G. Homer <br /> <br />Absent: <br /> <br />J. C. McKesson <br />P. W.Covington <br /> <br />This day Messrs. Durrette and Joyce, who are doing some building in"Bon Air Acres" <br />appeared before the Board and stated that they had taken over this subdivision <br />from Mr. Frank Purdy and that they had supposed the streets had been properly <br />graded and graveled for acceptance into the State Secondary System, but from a <br />report f~om the Department of Highways they find this is not so and they would <br />like to make some arrangements to have Brown Road and Peck Road taken into the <br />State Secondary System, and that they were willing to condition Peck Road if the <br />County could do something with the Brown Road. Upon consideration whereof and <br />on motion of James W. Gordon, Jr., it is resolved that if and when the Peck Road <br />in "Bon Air Acres" is graveled sufficiently for acceptance into the State Secondar~ <br />System, the County will take steps to have the Brown Road a ccep%md. <br /> <br />use <br /> <br />This day Mr. Irvin G. Homer stated that the Highway had taken into the Secondary <br />S~ rem a road known as the Belcher Road, running off from Rt. 653, between Swift <br />Creek and Rt.655, for a distance of one mile but that this distance did not reach <br />the pro~rty of Mrs. Avery and that he felt ~t was desirable for the County to <br />have an additional .2 of a mile of this road improved to serve this home. Upon <br />consideration whereof, and on motion of Irvin G.Horner, it is resolved that the <br />Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested to improve the <br />distance to the Creek and erect a wooden bridge from local materials, expending <br />a sum not to exceed $50.00, charging same to the 3¢ road levy. <br /> <br />This day Mr.D.S.Beasley came before the Board and presented a petition from residents <br />along Rt.#l from Half-Way House to Kingsland and the Kingsland area, requesting ~ <br />that a water system be installed for that area and statee he felt sure he could ~ <br />get twice as many names as appeared on the petition to sign up for water. ~ <br />Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that a wateI <br />system be installed from Half-Way House including the Kingsland area as soon as <br />materials are available. <br /> <br />This day again the offer from James Friend for the sale of a water system in <br />"Branda Court" on Kingsland Road to the County came befor~ the Board and Mr.H.T. <br />Goyne stated he had investigated the system and there were lO connections which <br />would guarantee a twelve percent return, for the sum of $1800.00. Upon <br />consideration whereof, mid on motion of H.T.Goyne it is resolved that the County <br />purchase this water system as soon as the title to same can be cleared. <br />And be it further resolved that the Commonwealth,s Attorney be and he hereby is <br />instructed to examine the title to this water system. <br /> <br />This day Mr. C.has. A. Ryburn, Jr.. Chief of Police of Chesterfield County. appeare~ <br />before the Board and made a verbal report of the happenings at the State Polxce <br />Convention at Old Point Comfort and stated that the International Association would <br />meet in New York City on October 10, ll and 12th and that he felt At would be very <br />desirable if he attended. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T. <br />Goyne it is resolved that the Chief of Police of Chesterfield County be permitted <br />to attend the International Association of Police Chiefs in ~ew York City, and tha~ <br />the County p ay the expenses up to and not exceeding $1OO.O0. <br /> <br />This day the Executive Secretary stated there were some bills which wSre urgently <br />needed to bepaid in the Utilities Department of the County and there were insuffic~ <br />funds to pay the same. Upon consideration whereof, and onmotion of H.T.Goyne <br />it is resolved that the sum of $2,000.00 be and it ~reby is appropriated from <br />the unappropriated surglus of the General Fund to the Utilities Department - <br />General County Sanitary Fund. <br /> <br /> <br />
