L.Smith, concerning activities for the month of March, 1945, which report is received and filed. The Game ,,ardens made their reports of activities during the month of Narch, 19A5. This day again the Budget for 1945-'46 which was tentatively adopted on March 13, 1945, and which has been advertised in accordance wi th law, was again considered, and it is resolved on motion of W. A. Hornet, that the budget, including the budget of the DePartment of ~,elfare and the School Budget, be, mid the same is hereby approved and adopted as the budget for the year 1945-'46. ~,hereas, in accordance with law the proposal to adopt and fix levies required by tM budget for the year 1945-'46 has been made public according to law, and ~,hereas, this day was fixed for the public hearing of same, Now, Therefore, on action of ~. This day Mr. H. L. Chalkley reque~ted that a section of the Old Ooode's Brid~!e ~o~d b~ $~proved. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of T.D. Watk~ns, it i~ resolved that the Virginia Department of Highways be and it hereby is requested to improve a section of the Old Goode's Bridge Road, commencing from Rt. 360, approximately three-quarters of ~ mile from the Intersection of Rt. 360 and Rt.605 in a southeasterly direction for a d~stance approximately two-tenths of a/~ile, expending a sum not to exceed $150.00, and charging same to the 3ct. road levy. Stone, Secretary of the Ettrick Citizens League, requesting theft the League be furnished ~ith informati concerning the financial standing of th~ Ettrick Sanitary ~istrict for the past s].xteen yemrs. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H. T. Goyne, it r~solved thct this matter be referred to ~r.J.Wm. Dance, Treasurer, of Chesterfield County, and he be instructed to confer with the Ettrick Citizens League and supply them with such information on the financial picture of the Ettrick Sanitary Distri¢ as is practical to obtain. This day the Executive Oecretary presented bills from B.A. Hawkins & Company for sewer line work in Ettrick and stated that ~dditional appropriations would have ~o be mede to pay these bills. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of P. W. Covington, it is resolved ti~at the sum of ~650.00 be and it hereby is appropriated from the unappropriated surplus of the Ettrick San. Dist. Fund to the Ettrlck Sanitary District Operating Fund - Repairs and Replacements. This day Miss helen Ricks, District Supervisors of the ~ome Demonstration Clubs, appeared before the Board and stated thst she hsd been requested by DireCtor John R. Hutcheson, to say that funds would be available fromthe mmergency Food Program for supervision of a cannery if and when it was built at Chesterfield Courthouse, and operated by the Home Demonstration Department, but that they could not furnish any money for the building or equipping such a cannery. Whereupon, Mr. Goyne reported that he had made an extensive investigation of the possibility of establishing a ~annery at Ohesterfield Courthouse and thet in his opinion the erecting and operating cost would be more than the project would justify. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of P.W. Covington, it is resolved thst the matter of establishing a cannery or canneries in Chesterfield County be and it hereby is indefinitely tabled. The ExeCutive Secretary advised the Board that he had been informed thst approxima~ 200 new hom~s were to be built near the McGuire Hospital and thst the developer of the proposed project stated that in order to get approval for this proJec% it was necessary that water and sewer service be furnished and requested that the County take some steps to furnish the same. Upon consideration whereof, as on motion of W. A. Homer, it is resolved that the developer be informed that the County at this time could not furnish sewer facilities in that area but that the County had no objections to them making arrangements with the City of Richmond for connections with the sewer and water systems. This day the Commonwealth's attorney, Mr. M.A. Cogbill, stated to the Board that he had had an inquiry from Colonial Heights concerning ~ division of the Wine Tax established by the 1944 Virgihia Legislature, and stated it was his opinion that Colonial Heights was entitled to a portion of this Wine Tax.
