Division super.intendent, appeared before the Board presenting the following resolut on from tbaSol:!,ool BQerd: "The Division Superintendent submitted bud~t estimates for the session 1947-48, and_requested the School Board to adopt the budget with one conditional item as follows: The State Legislature in special session in 1947, made a conditional appropriation for teaohers salaries of tl,ooO,OOO.OO (One Million Dollars) for the State of Virginia, Chesterfield County's share of this appropriation is $10,655.00. The Division Superintendent recommended tha. t the Board of Supervisors be re- quested to underwrite this conditional appropriation with the understanding that if. and when the State releases it, it will be returned bo the County General Fund. On motion of Mr. Laine, the Budget with the. above outlined condition was adopie in the total amount of $1,135,457.00, and it was further ordered that the Superin- tendent be directed to present this budget at the next regular iteeting of the Board of~pervisors and request its approval of it." . - Upon consideration wbereo.t, and on motion ot HlT. The Division Su.perintendent also presented a resolution from the School Board as fo Howe: "Whereas, the contract with C.E. Nuckols for the construction and re- modeling of Bellewood School amounts to $14l,500.00, and . Whereas, the first Literary Loan approved for the building was only $100,000.00, Therefore, be it resolved that an additional loan of t45,OOO.00 be requested from the Literary Fund to cover the construction and remodeling and purchase of equipment for tlle Bellewood 8c.bool, an4 Be it further resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County be requested to approve this loan. Upon oonsideration whereof, and on motion of H.T. Goyne, it is resolved that the additional loan o~ $45,000.00 from the Literary Fund to oover the construotion and remodeling aDd purchase Of equipment tor tb3 Bellewood School. This day an application was maae by Mr. D.H. Robertson, of the Radio Virginia, Inc., who appeared before the Board requesting permission to erect a radio tower and trans J mi tter building on property oontaining about 13 acres, tronting six hundred teet on the German School Road, and one half..mile from Route 60. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of iJ.A. Horner, permission is granted for the erection of a radio ' tower and transmitter building on the above described property. This day a delegation trom t.be Parent Teachers' AssQciatien at Che~tl;tr1'~eld County appeared before the Board and Mrs. Sheffield 01' ~ttrick and Krs. West of Kingsland acting as speakers for the group requested the Board to reoonsider the appropriation to the teachers for the year lQ46-'47 and to adopt the bu4get as presented by the SChool Board for the year 1947.'48. i Upon oonsideration whereof, and on motion of J.G. baAing, this matter is referred to the Bud~t Committee. This.day again the rezoning of a piece of property on Rt. 161, between the City Line and Rt. 60, made by Mr. \v.P. Leonard for rezoning from Agrioulture to Industry, came beforet.be Board and there appeared a large delegation of residents of that area requesting that this be not rezoned. Atter a lengthy disoussion and due consideration it is resolved oil:Jll,Otion of W.A. Horner, that the matter be oontinued ~ until April 1, 1947, and ,that the same be readvertised. 'l'his day Mr. A.J. Mills, Resident l!.ngineer, Virginia Depart~nt of Highways, appear- ed before the Board and presented the tentative budget for the Secondary Road Syste in Chesterfield County for the year 1947.'48, including the roads to be black-topped Upon oonsideration whereof, and on motion of J.G. Hen!ng, it is resolved tbat this tentative budget be and it hereby is approved. This day there were several applications presented to the Board for rezoning, which were as follows: (1) In Manchester District that area adjacent to the subdivision known as "Chesterfield Court", at the nQrtheast intersection of Warwick Road Rt. 147, and the ~orsey Road Rt. 1650, a distance 01' 300 feet along Rt. 647 and 200 teet along Rt. 1650. This application is made by Mr. C. "'t Pease and is for rezoning 1'rem Agricul- ture to General Busine 8S. . (2) In Mldlothian,District, on Rt. 60, approximately 1/2 mile west of the City Limits, adjaoent to the property now ocoupiedby the Rollins garage! a distanoe 01' 126 feet aLong Rt. 60, with a depth ot 126 geet. (~) In Manchester District on Rt. 60, Midlothian Pike, approximately 500 feet west ot the intersection of Rt. 60 and Rt. 684, a distance of 300 feet along Rt. 60 with a depth of 200 feet. This application is made by ur. Tony Zervas and is for rezoning from Agrioulture to General Bus1Iless. (4) In Manohester District, on Rt. 60 ~dloth1an Pike, in the Subdivision of "Pinehurst", west of the in".section of ~t. 60 and Rt. 644, on Lot 2, Block 2, in the .subdivision of "Pinehurst". Horner, it is resolved that tbB Executive Secretary be and he hereby is instructed to advertise the same. And be Jt further resolved that they be considered at an adjourned meeting or the Board on 4pril 1, 1947, at 10:00 a.m. This day an application for the rezoning of a parcel of land on hiver Road in Ettric made by Mr. O.K. Perkinson, which had been duly advertised, oame before the Board for action, and there appeared no one in opposition thereto~ Upon consideration .hereof, and on motion of P.W. Covington, it is resolved that the application be granted for the rezoning of Lots 5,6,7 and 8, "Laurel Branch Farms" from Residential to Looal Business. This day an appli cation tf the i:lchmidt Investment, Inc. tor the rezoning of an area near the interseotion of Cberokee Road, Rt. 704 and theWestham Road Rt. 147, which had been duly advertised, oame up tor hearing, and aotion. Upon oonsideration where of and on motion of T.D. Watkins, it 1s resolved that action on this be deferred un- til the. neit meeting or the Board vtdch is on April 1, 1947. This day an application from Mr. D....... Miller for a permit to enlarge his broiler hou es at the interseotion of Rte. 704 aOO-147, w.bich bad been duly advertised, came up for J action, and the Executive Secretary read a letter frem Mr. ~ller requested that thi application be withdrawn. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion 01' ~.D. Watki s it is reBolved that this matter be withdrawn as requested. This day again a request from the Wanchester Citizens League and tbe Elkhardt Farmer' Club was brought before the Board, requesting that minutes of the meetings of the Board of SuperVisors be mailed to any organization in the County Requesting the same v~hereupon a motion was made by Mr. li.T. Goyn.e and seoonded by :Mr. P.W. Covington, that this be done. nhel'eupon 1(r. T.D. Waskins offered a substitute motion that this matter be 'eferred until the nellt regular meeting of the Board, which motion was carrie.d and on which JII.r. Goyne and Hr. Upon consideration. whereot, and on moti.on of W.A. Horner, It is resolved that the Virginia Department ot Highways b6 and it hereby is requested to make a survey of tbese roads with the idea in mind of straightening and improving the same. This day the Exeoutive Secretary read to the Board a copy of a letter to ~. J.
