That the Board of Supervisors of Chesterfield County will on
October 14, 1958, at 2:30 ,p.m., at its'. meeting room at
Chesterfield Court House, Virginia, take 'under consideration the
rezoning and/or granting of a Use ,Permit on the followingdewcribed
parcells of land:
1. In Clover Hill Magisterial District, a 275-aere parcel
of land fronting approximately 4800 feet on Rt.602. and
extending 3400 feet southwardly, s aid parcel being 2300 reet
west ofRt. 676, on which is requested a Use Permit. to ,
mine shale and clay by theDaniels Brick and Tile Company.
2. In Midlothian Magisterial District, a 11.16 acre parcel
of land fronting 793 feet on Rt.60 and extending 500'feet
northwardly, said parcel being 2100 feet west of Rt.868,
which is requested to be rezoned rrom Agriculture to
General Business on application of Mr. T.M. Ferebee.
In Dale Magisterial District, a parcel of land fronting
220 feet on. Rt.652 and extending 200 feet northwardly"

4. In Manchester Magisterial District, a parcel of land
fronting 110 feet on Belt Boulevard and extending 300 feet

Berkley Road, which is proposed to be rexoned rrom

The gross income of Pine Acres Cottages has fallen off
25.6%, compared to the same time last year, 1957.
The rsason, in my opinion, is due to the developements in
this immediate area. There will be a more drastic decrease
in business if more motels are built in the vicinity of

Wathal Lodge, drastic enough to cause business failures
amounting into thousands o~ dollars; such failures will mean
great losses personally and to the county of Chesterfield.
When and if such Motels are completed, it is certain that the
gain will not exceed the losses to the community.

To whom it may concern:
Since July 1 of thhs year there has been a decrease of
40% in the gross business of this motel from the same
period last year.
By analyzing our olm records and other,~usiness indicators
available to us we feel that 25% of this decrease is a
direct result of the opening of the toll road. Because
of the combination of toll road and recession it has
been necessary to curtail our spending. This has meant,
among other things, laying off help who live in the county.
So far the pr&erty has been kept up but a prolonged period
of poor business which was not anticipted would make it
impossible to continue to wake the necessary repairs and
the property value would decrease.
Given tim~ we feel that a deffinite traffic pattern will
be established and normal competition shall again prevail.
Then business, competition and natural progress and growth,
can continue on a sound basis.
