The Game Warden made his report of activities during the month of December, 19~5. This day there appeared a number of residents of ~,~arwick Gardens stating that relic was necessary from the condition which existed in ,;arwick Gardens as to the drainag of streets and lots and presented a petition ~igned by fifty-nine residents, togeth with pictures of the flooded streets and lots. Upon consideration whereof, and motion of ~. A. Horner, it is resolved that the Chairman be r~quested to appoint a Committee to work with the Health Department in oo~ecting if possible this situ~ ~,hereupon the Chairm~n appointed on this Committee, ~&r.~',.A.Horner and Mr. T. Watkins · This Gay the Game Warden requested that there be an advertisement placed in the Richmond and Petersburg newspapers stating that dog licenses wera due before ~'ebruary 1st and informing the public that penalties would be applied after that t Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne;'.'~ it is resolved ~that the F~xecuttve Secretary be and he hereby is instructed to insert such advertisement in the Richmond and Petersburg newspapers. This day the F~xecutive Secretary read a letter from the District ~ngineer of the Fifth Naval District, concerning the establishment of two berthing areas in the James River for mooring demobilized U.S.Na~al vessels. On motion of H.T.Goyne, the letter is received and filed. This day the Executive °ecretary read a letter from the Compensation Board setting forth salaries of the Treasurer, Oom~aissioner of Eevenue, Sheriff, Commonwealth's Att6rney and their deputies, a~d the letters are received and filed. 'This day the ~lxecutive Secretary reported that he had communicated with Miss Helen Ricks, District Home Agent, Extension Division, requesting that she appear before the Board of Supervisors at this meeting, and stated that he had received , a telegram informing him that Miss Ricks was ill and would be unable to attend this meet lng, bu~ hoped to appear .before the Board of Supervisors on February 12 1946. This day the Executive Secretary presented a petition from residents of the Goode' Brid~e Road, Rt. 647, a~king that the State Highway Department be requested to correct the condition at the bridge over Pocosham Creek on Rt. 647, just west of the intersection ofRt. 647 and the Hey Road, Rt. 633~ Upon consideration whereof and on motion of ~ A Horner, it is resolved that Depart~nt of Highwa$ be and ~t hereby is requested {o investigate this situation and makB such correction necessary as soon as possible. General Ettrick 0p, General ion. This day the Executive Secretary stated to the Board that there had been a complaint on the condition of Railroad avenue in Chester. Upon consideration whereof and on motion of R.~. Goyne, it is resolved that the Virginia Department of Righ~ays be and it hereby is requested to improve this Avenue, expending a sum of $100.00, and charging same to the 3ct. road levy. This day the Executive Secretary submitted to the Board a form of application for a honing and/or Building Permit. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of W. A. Homer, it is resolved that this form of aDplica~.ion be approved and the Executime Secretary be instructed to have the same printed. This day the Executive ~ecretary read a letter from Mrs. ~nn ~.Myers, requesting an extension to the water lines of the system at Chesterfield Courthouse along Route ~10, approxiSately 2,000 feet east of the Courthouse, stating that she was willing to post bond guaranteeing l~ return on the investment. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of ~. a. Horner, it is resolved that this extension be made as soon as proper bond is posted. and be it further resolved that the sum of $800.00 be and it hereby is appropriate, from the unappropriated surplus of the General Fund to -,~ater Systems-for the purpose of making this extension. This day the Executive Secretary read a letter from Mr. Jos. T. Moore, requesting that a water system be installed ~n Centralia GarCens, stating he proposed to build at once from thirty-five to fifty-five homes. Upon consideration whereoS and on motion of J.G.Hening, it is resolved that the Executive Secretarybe and he hereby is instructed to advise Mr. Moore that this proposition is accepted in accordance with a former resolution passed by the Board of Supervisors and that construction be started on the same as soon as the proper bond was posted by him. This day the Executive Secretary presented to the Board a bond and agreement, together with a check in the amount of ~6,000.00 from McGuire Homes for the installation of a water system in the Subdivision known as "McGutre homes". Upon consideration w~ reof and on motion cf W.A.Ho~ner, it is resolved that the che~k for $6,000.00 be accepted and deposited to the General County Fund. and be it further resolved that the sum of $6,000.00 be and it hereby is appropriated from the unappropriated surplus of the General Fund to ~ater Systems for the purpcse of the installation of this water system. Whereas, this Board has heretofore adopted a policy concerning water systems in said County, and ~hereas, it is the intention of this Board to enlarge said policy Now, Therefore, on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that it is the policy of this Board to sell water from any water system operated by this Board, either County water system or sanitary district water system, to municipalities, sanitar~ district, county-owned and operated water system and/or publicly owned institu~161 This day again the matter of closing a part of Route 617, northwardly from its intersection with Rt. 616 was considered, and on motion of E.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the petition for the closing of this road be and it hereby is dente This day the E~ecutive hecreta~Y stated to the Board that there had been organize in Petersburg and vicinity a resque squad to serve in all emergencies, stati~ that he had been requested to solicit from the Board o~ Supervieors of Chester- field County a donation for the financing of this organization. It being, howeve the opinion of members of the Board that s~.~ch organization should be supported by private donations and not political subdivisions, no action was taken. This day ~r.H.T.GoMne, Supervisor of Bermuda District, requested that the Board of Supervizors defer the application to the Circuit Court of Chesterfield County for permission to hold an election on abond issue in Bermuda Sanitary District. Upon consideration whereof, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the Commonwealth's attorney be instructed not to present the petition as directed at a former meeting of this Board until further action should be taken. This day Mr.H.T.Goyne, brought to the Board's attention the fact that some consideration should be given to the erection of a memorial to the boys of Chesterfield County who gave their lives in ,~orld ~ar II, and the matter was continued for further discussion and consideration. This day the matter of purchasing a photograohic machine for making photastat copies of deeds to be used in the Clerk's Office was considered, and on motion of H.T.Goyne, it is resolved that the Sxecutive Secretary and Commonwealth~!s ~ttorney ~e and ~he¥ hereby are instructed to investigate the matter of purchas~ such a machine. This day the Executive Secretary informed ~he Boara that it was necessary that a pump be purchased for use in pumping water from ditches in the installation of water lines. Upon consideration whereof, and on ~otion of W.A.Horner, ng it is resolved that the Executive Secretary be and he hereby is authorized to purchase such a pump.
